Part 2 of addressing the most common myths I see about The Abbey Yung Method! Today’s myths:
1. A damaged hair routine that incorporatess bond repair leads to protein overload
2. You have to use both a wet + dry heat protectant or your hair isn’t protected from heat styling
3. Affordable haircare products only give you short term benefits but cause damage in the long run
4. The Abbey Yung Method can be made “clean”
LMK if you want a part 3 and if so, which questions you’d like me to address in that video!
Having followed The Abbey Yung Method personally, I can share how it truly transforms hair care once you understand the facts behind these myths. First, the concern about protein overload from bond repair treatments is often misunderstood. Bond repair products like those in Pantene, Fructis, or K18 focus on strengthening hair without acting as heavy protein treatments, so they don’t cause excess protein buildup when used properly. Regarding heat protection, many think using two layers—both wet and dry heat protectants—is mandatory. From my experience, one good heat protectant, when applied correctly, is sufficient. The second one is optional and depends on your heat styling frequency and hair type. This approach has helped me protect my hair effectively while avoiding product buildup. I also used to believe drugstore products were only good short-term and harmful later, but that’s not true. Many affordable brands deliver lasting benefits, as long as you choose products suited for your hair's needs and follow a consistent routine. Some of my favorite budget-friendly options have kept my hair healthy without damage over time. Finally, the idea of making The Abbey Yung Method "clean" has been confusing. The method is designed for results and hair integrity rather than strictly clean or natural formulations. It's flexible and focuses on maintaining hair health rather than adhering only to "clean" or organic products, which has been freeing for me to customize my routine based on what works best for my hair. Overall, The Abbey Yung Method helped me appreciate a balanced, evidence-based approach to haircare routines, emphasizing protection, maintenance, and real results rather than myths or marketing claims.
