we went to so many different places in our 4 days of Destin. All of it was amazing. It is genuinely my favorite beach now. I can’t enjoy any others. I highly recommend!
... Read moreWow, my recent 4-day escape to Destin, Florida, was truly unforgettable! After experiencing 'EVERYWHERE I WENT IN DESTIN,' I can confidently say it's earned its spot as my favorite beach destination. But beyond just listing places, I wanted to dive deeper into why these spots, and a few others, make Destin such a gem.
When people ask about the 'best attractions Destin FL' has to offer, my mind immediately jumps to the sugar-white sands and emerald waters. While my original post gave you a quick 'yes' or 'no' on whether I'd return to places like Bass Pro Shops (definitely a unique stop, even if just for the massive fish tank!), Tailfins Waterfront Grill (those onion rings were divine, a solid 'yes' for a casual bite with a view), and the relaxing vibes at Pelican Beach Resort (perfect for unwinding!), there's so much more to explore.
One place that often comes up in searches for 'Destin Florida' activities, and that you absolutely must add to your list, is Henderson Beach State Park. This isn't just any beach; it's a pristine stretch of coastline with towering dunes, nature trails, and some of the clearest water you'll find. It feels a world away from the bustling areas. I loved spending a morning there, walking the trails and then cooling off in the Gulf. It's fantastic for families, birdwatching, or just a quiet escape. Remember to bring a cooler with drinks and snacks, as facilities are minimal, and there's a small entrance fee, but it's totally worth it for the unspoiled beauty.
Beyond the natural beauty, Destin offers a vibrant culinary scene. My visit to Cafe Destin for a delicious waffle and coffee was a highlight, and Curly Cream Rolled Icecream was such a fun, refreshing treat after a sunny day. And for seafood lovers, while AJ’s Seafood & Oyster Bar had a lively atmosphere, I found myself leaning more towards the charming local spots for a truly authentic taste of the Gulf. My 'no' for AJ's was purely personal preference for a quieter dining experience, but it's undeniably popular! Don't forget to grab a unique blue ice cream cone from The Cone Ice Cream and Coffee – it’s a fun photo op and delicious!
Visiting Okaloosa Island also offers a slightly different vibe, with its famous pier providing great fishing opportunities and stunning sunset views. It’s a fantastic spot for a leisurely stroll or to simply soak in the ocean breeze.
When planning your trip to 'Destin Florida,' I highly recommend checking out some of the charter fishing options – it's known as the "World's Luckiest Fishing Village" for a reason! Even if you don't fish, a dolphin cruise is a magical experience. For evening entertainment, many places offer live music, especially along the harbor. To make the most of your trip, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons (spring or fall) when the crowds are thinner, and the weather is still perfect. Getting around is fairly easy by car, but parking can be a challenge during peak times, so plan ahead or consider ride-sharing for popular spots. Enjoy your Destin adventure; I know I can't wait to go back!
