Toddler teeth brushing tips
Here’s what actually helps me with brushing my toddlers teeth. Tooth brushing used to be a whole battle, but these little tricks make it a little bit easier!
🪥🫧My Tips & Tricks:
• Let them hold a toothbrush too- they feel “in control” so you can sneak in real brushing.
• Sit them on your lap facing you– their head rests on your arm and you can see everything.
• Use a *tiny* smear of toddler-safe toothpaste– more than that is pointless and they’ll just eat it.
• Make it quick– focus on the fronts, chewing surfaces, and the canines. Come back for the rest if they allow it.
• Sing or count– short distractions keep them calmer (my go-to is counting to 10)
• Brush in the bath sometimes– they’re relaxed and already used to water.
• Let them “brush your teeth” afterward– for some reason this makes her more cooperative lol.
Remember to brush in the morning after breakfast and at night before bed. Even if it’s a rough night, we still do a quick pass!

Brushing your toddler's teeth can often feel like a challenging task, but with a few smart strategies, it can become a smoother and even enjoyable part of your daily routine. Many parents find that involving toddlers in the process gives them a sense of control, which is why letting them hold their own toothbrush can be a game changer. Not only does this make them feel empowered, but it also opens the door for parents to sneak in effective brushing. Sitting your child on your lap facing you positions their head comfortably, allowing you to have a better view and control during brushing. This position helps protect them from sudden movements and enables you to clean their teeth thoroughly, especially areas like the front teeth, chewing surfaces, and canines, which are crucial for preventing cavities. Using just a tiny smear of toddler-safe, fluoride-free toothpaste is recommended—more than this can lead to swallowing excess toothpaste, which isn’t ideal. The toothpaste you choose, like Orajel’s fluoride-free watermelon-flavored option, can make brushing more appealing without compromising safety. Keeping brushing sessions quick and focused on key areas helps maintain your toddler’s patience and cooperation. Employing distractions like singing a short song or counting to ten can soothe them and make the process less stressful. Occasionally brushing teeth during bath time leverages their relaxed state and familiarity with water, reducing resistance. Interestingly, letting toddlers “brush your teeth” afterward fosters cooperation and turns tooth brushing into a fun, reciprocal activity. This playful approach helps build healthy habits early on and can ease future routines. Consistency is key, so aim to brush after breakfast in the morning and before bedtime at night. Even on challenging days, a quick brushing session helps maintain oral hygiene. Remember, positive reinforcement and patience go a long way. These simple tips not only aid in effective cleaning but also help your toddler develop lifelong healthy dental habits.

Omg so good for parenting!❤️
