Happy Year in Books!
I look forward to this more than I look forward to Spotify Wrapped tbh 🙊
My goal was to read 36 books, and although I fell short, I still read 2 more books than last year! I am going to make my goal for 2025 32 books (a 10% increase from this year).
What’s crazy is I only read 9 books in 2022 🤯 I’m so happy that I reignited my love for reading over the past couple years + have been able to immerse myself into so many stories. Also having the amazing booktok, bookstagram, lemon8 reading community has been a game changer!
Here is to exploring new worlds and stories in 2025!

Reading 29 books in a year, and aiming for 32, is such an inspiring achievement! It really shows how a rekindled love for reading can transform your year. For anyone looking to embark on their own reading journey or boost their book count, I've picked up a few tips over time that have really helped me. First off, setting a goal, just like Abby did, is key. Don't be afraid to start small! If 29 books feels daunting, maybe aim for 12, or even 6. The important thing is to make it a sustainable habit. Once you hit that first goal, you'll feel so accomplished, it'll motivate you to stretch further next time. I always find that having a target, even a flexible one, keeps me accountable. Next, let's talk about creating your personal 'reading path' or list. This is where the magic happens! Don't feel pressured to read only bestsellers. Explore different genres and authors. I've found so many hidden gems through communities like Lemon8, BookTok, and even just browsing Goodreads. Sometimes, a book you'd never expect, like 'Getting to Good' (which Abby rated so highly!), turns out to be a profound experience. Think about what you want to learn or experience. Do you want to dive into fantasy like 'Fourth Wing' or 'House of Flame and Shadow'? Or perhaps something for self-improvement? Curating a diverse list keeps things exciting and prevents reading slumps. And speaking of diverse reads, don't underestimate the power of shorter books! We often focus on epic sagas, but a quick read can be incredibly satisfying. Just like 'It Works,' which was only 28 pages, these shorter books can give you that sense of accomplishment and help you hit your reading targets faster. They're perfect for busy days or when you need a palate cleanser between longer, more challenging reads. They also tend to be really impactful for personal development, offering concise wisdom. To truly make reading a part of your life, try to integrate it into your daily routine. Maybe it's 15 minutes before bed, during your commute with an audiobook, or while waiting for an appointment. Even these small pockets of time add up significantly. I even keep a book in my bag at all times, just in case! It’s all about making it easily accessible. Finally, remember that reading isn't just about entertainment; it's a powerful tool for self-improvement and personal development. Whether you're exploring new perspectives in fiction, learning new skills from non-fiction, or simply expanding your vocabulary, every book contributes to your growth. For example, reading about different characters' challenges and triumphs in stories like 'Check & Mate' or 'Spectacular' can offer profound insights into human nature and resilience. Tracking your progress on platforms like Goodreads, seeing your average rating, and reflecting on your 'Year in Books' summary isn't just fun; it's a way to see how much you've grown and what incredible worlds you've explored. Here's to many more amazing reading years ahead!
