My college study abroad travels (so far)🧳🤍👏🏽
Here are all of the places I’ve been on my college study abroad thus far! I want to preface that I am traveling a lot and that this is not the standard of the expectation if you are coming abroad. If anything, it’s totally okay and really nice to have some weekends spent in your home city or town. But if you needed some inspiration or ideas on where to travel to here are all mine so far with many more to come❤️❤️ let me know what you think! #lemon8college #lemon8partner #collegetravel #collegestudyabroad #studyabroad
Wow, what an incredible journey you've had so far during your study abroad! It's so true that everyone's experience is unique, and while traveling every weekend might not be the norm for everyone, your adventures definitely spark some serious wanderlust. For anyone out there dreaming of their own college travel blog-worthy escapades, let's dive into how to make the most of your study abroad experience, whether you're hopping countries every week or exploring your host city. One of the biggest questions I hear is, 'How do you afford to travel so much?' My personal tip is all about smart budgeting and planning. Before you even leave, set a realistic travel budget. While abroad, look into student discounts for attractions and transportation. I found that cooking more meals at my apartment or hostel, rather than eating out constantly, saved a significant amount. Also, taking advantage of budget airlines, overnight trains, or even bus passes can drastically cut down travel costs. For example, when planning my trips from my home base in Barcelona, I always looked for early bird deals. When it comes to picking destinations, there's a world of possibilities. You've hit some fantastic spots! Iconic cities like Paris, with its stunning Eiffel Tower, are a must-see for a reason, but don't shy away from unique cultural experiences like a camel ride in Marrakech. And for nature lovers, places like Interlaken, Switzerland, with its breathtaking snow-capped mountains, offer a completely different kind of adventure. My advice is to balance the 'must-sees' with some off-the-beaten-path destinations. Sometimes the best memories are made in unexpected places! Maximizing weekend trips is an art form. I learned to pack light – seriously, a carry-on is your best friend when you're moving between cities like Copenhagen, known for its colorful harbor. Researching a few key sights and experiences beforehand helps you make the most of limited time. Think about what truly excites you – is it museums, local markets, or just soaking in the atmosphere of a new city? For me, finding a local cafe and people-watching in a new city always feels like a mini-adventure. Finally, while travel is exciting, safety and practicality are key. Always share your itinerary with someone back home or a friend in your host city. Consider getting a local SIM card or an international eSIM to stay connected. And remember, cultural immersion isn't just about visiting landmarks; it's about trying local foods, attempting to speak a few phrases of the local language, and engaging with the people. Even in a bustling city like Barcelona, taking time to explore local neighborhoods beyond the main tourist spots can offer a richer experience. Whether your study abroad journey is filled with extensive travel or focuses more on exploring your host country, every moment is an opportunity for growth and adventure. Hopefully, these tips, inspired by your fantastic travels, will help other college students create their own unforgettable study abroad stories!
