Posting old TikToks
It's funny how looking back at old content, especially our own TikToks, can bring up a whirlwind of emotions. Sometimes, it feels like peering into a past self, and not always in a good way. I know for me, revisiting those old clips often makes me question things – is it me?, am I the reason all these things keep happening to me? It's a tough cycle of self-doubt, especially when you're navigating feelings of sadness or dealing with something like BPD. But lately, I've been trying to approach it with a new mindset, almost like a personal #refreshbold challenge. What if instead of letting those old videos trigger negative thoughts, we could actually use them as a tool for growth and understanding? For me, #refreshbold isn't just about trending content; it's about daring to refresh my perspective and bravely face what comes up. It's about taking those raw, vulnerable moments and finding a way to make them bold statements of survival and resilience. When I see those old TikToks, the ones that make me feel like things keep happening to me or that people always leave, I try to pause. Instead of spiraling into blame, I ask myself: 'What can I learn from this version of me? What strength did I have then, even if I couldn't see it?' It’s not easy, especially when the emotions are so strong. But recognizing that those feelings were valid, and that *I* am valid, is a huge part of the refresh. It’s about being bold enough to acknowledge the pain without letting it define my entire story now. One thing that's helped me is to not just blindly scroll past them. Sometimes, I'll even re-watch an old TikTok and try to add a new voiceover, or a text overlay, explaining where I was emotionally then, and where I am now. It’s a way of reclaiming the narrative. Other times, it’s simply about journaling those feelings that come up. Writing down am I the reason? and then challenging that thought with evidence of my courage or positive actions can be incredibly powerful. It’s a bold move to confront those inner critics head-on. For anyone else out there who finds themselves in a similar boat, battling with old memories, online or off, and those nagging questions like is it me?, remember you're not alone. The #refreshbold journey is deeply personal. It might mean taking a break from social media, or it might mean diving in and using your platform to share your story, just like I'm trying to do. It’s about finding your own way to refresh your mind and boldly step forward, regardless of what the past holds. Every day is a chance for a new perspective, a new bold choice towards self-compassion and healing.
