Snowball cookies, also known as Russian tea cakes or Mexican wedding cookies, are timeless treats enjoyed during the holiday season. These delicate, buttery cookies are widely loved for their melt-in-your-mouth texture, which is enhanced by the use of finely chopped almonds. To make your snowball cookies even more festive, consider adding a hint of cinnamon or using flavored extracts like almond or hazelnut. Another great tip is to substitute some of the all-purpose flour with almond flour for an extra nutty taste. The process of rolling the cookies in powdered sugar not only adds sweetness but also gives them a beautiful snowy appearance, perfect for holiday presentations. As you bake your cookies, make sure they cool slightly before rolling them in sugar to ensure better adherence. For the best results, always toast your almonds before incorporating them into the dough; this step enhances the nutty flavors and elevates your cookie game. Snowball cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week, making them an ideal make-ahead option for holiday parties. Let your creativity shine by experimenting with different nuts or by incorporating chocolate chips for a unique twist! Make this holiday season special with these snowball cookies and share your own festive variations with friends and family. Enjoy baking and happy holidays!
