First Hunt EVER

Y’all,

I’m gonna be honest. I thought I would hate this. I remembered the loud noise and the sharp recoil… my expectations were low. On top of that, I’m no vegetarian- I love my meat- but going out and hunting it is a whole other game!

First off, you rise before the sun, which also means you get to sit and enjoy the sunrise as the rest of nature wakes up around you. I’ve never been a morning person, but this experience alone could make me one. Oddly enough, something about sitting in or building a duck blind reminded me of a fort.

Something I also didn’t realize! You can be as loud as you want until a duck is near. I guess it kinda makes sense if you think about how they can’t hear with wind going past them at 30 mph.

You definitely need muck boots or waiters tho. The temperatures and water at this time of the season (and later) are no joke! Bring a head lamp to help set up before sunrise. Setting out the decoys to attract the ducks was honestly pretty fun too! And I definitely recommend a beanie over a ball cap!

Let me know what you think.

Have you gone hunting? Where and what? Would you?
