Improving sleep quality is a personal journey, and over time I've found that creating a calming nighttime routine makes a huge difference. Using scented products like lavender lotion and a light spray behind my neck really helps signal my brain that it’s time to wind down. These scents aren’t overwhelming, just soothing enough to help me relax. I also swear by a whipped body butter that absorbs quickly without feeling heavy, leaving my skin hydrated and soft throughout the night. It’s like a little pampering session each evening that adds to my relaxation. For those who suffer from headaches or sinus issues like me, incorporating aromatherapy sticks, like my favorite minty Head Bliss, or a Vapo inhaler can be incredibly helpful. These calming scents not only ease discomfort but also gently nudge me toward sleep. Another key part of my routine is managing jaw tension with an acupuncture pen. Since I tend to clench my jaw at night, massaging the jaw muscles helps reduce tightness and tension, making it easier to relax physically and mentally. Keeping tissues by my bedside is also essential—I don’t want a stuffy nose to interrupt my rest. And before I hit the sheets, applying a thick layer of nourishing lip balm or Aquaphor keeps my lips comfortable all night. Finally, controlling light exposure is crucial, especially since my husband falls asleep with the TV on. I use an eye mask most nights to block out light, but sometimes I opt for a nod pod pillow for comfort without a mask. All these little steps combined have transformed my sleep experience, helping me fall asleep faster and wake up feeling refreshed. If you struggle with sleep too, experimenting with scents, skincare, and relaxation tools might be just the self-care boost you need.
