Father’s Day is hitting hard…
My first Father’s Day weekend without both of the men who showed me what love is. Grief is such a tough process to navigate but I’m working every day to prove to myself & others that if you don’t
give up, your healing is always possible. ❤️🩹❤️🩹
Father’s Day can be an exceptionally challenging time when you’ve lost key men who taught you about love and life. From my personal experience, grasping onto grief while surrounded by reminders of those no longer with us is emotionally exhausting. Yet, amid the pain, I’ve discovered small ways to honor their memory that support my healing journey. One thing I've learned is how important it is to give yourself permission to feel all the emotions — sadness, anger, confusion — without judgment. Grief isn’t linear; it often cycles through waves of sorrow and moments of joy. For instance, after losing my favorite uncle, who was my confidant during important decisions and celebrations, the silence where I once sought his advice was deafening. But I’ve found solace in speaking to him through prayer and channeling his love into my daily actions. Engaging in creative outlets like poetry or sharing your story with others can also be powerful. Performing for audiences or participating in interviews about my experiences has helped me articulate the complexity of grief and reach others facing similar struggles. Though outward appearances may suggest strength and happiness, vulnerability underlies this resilience, reminding me that it’s okay not to have all the answers. Above all, I encourage anyone dealing with grief to extend grace to themselves and others. Society often expects a quick recovery, but healing is a personal process that unfolds in its own time. Surround yourself with supportive people who listen without pressing you to “move on” prematurely. Remember, your worth isn’t diminished by grief. Keep nurturing your spirit with kindness and patience. In honoring those we've lost, we keep their legacy alive through how we live and love. This Father’s Day, despite the ache of absence, I commit to embracing hope and continuing forward with determination, knowing that healing is possible if you never give up on yourself.
