What a difference a Summer makes

Wow I was expecting this book to be this. This 18 year old experience so much over the summer of 1998 in Jersey City. So much to unpack. This book made me laugh cry and awww. I’m not sure if it a YA romance or thriller all I know it was everything. I can’t wait to read more from Takerra Allen. 1000/10

... Read moreTakerra Allen’s book uniquely captures the essence of a transformative summer in 1998 Jersey City, blending themes of innocence, growth, and the complexities of young adulthood. The 18-year-old protagonist's experiences reflect a rollercoaster of emotions that resonate deeply with many readers, from moments of joy and laughter to touching scenes that evoke tears. Set against the vibrant, urban backdrop of Jersey City during the late 90s, the novel skillfully intertwines a coming-of-age narrative with elements that keep the reader guessing if it’s a romance or a thriller. This duality enriches the storytelling, making it accessible and engaging for a broad audience, especially fans of young adult literature that defy singular genre labels. The references to innocence and transformation echo throughout the story, inviting readers to reflect on their own pivotal summers and personal growth phases. Takerra Allen’s ability to evoke nostalgia through detailed settings and character depth enhances the authenticity of the narrative, making the novel a memorable read. For those interested in exploring a compelling YA novel that defies easy categorization, this book offers a perfect blend of emotional depth and suspenseful storytelling. The praise it receives highlights its power to entertain and move readers, making it a recommended pick for readers who enjoy heartfelt stories filled with surprises and genuine human connection.

90 seconds makes a difference!
Did you know that a child’s intense emotions only last 90 seconds unless we fuel them? My toddler has been going through some WILD emotions lately so I’ve been studying up on how to help her through them and I found this! It has completely shifted the way we handle tantrums, whining, and meltdowns.
