This one was honestly hard for me to rate, but overall I’m giving it 4 ⭐️ out of 5.
The story follows two longtime friends whose relationship turns sexual after the deaths of their husband and wife. This is actually my first erotica since reading Zane back in the early 2000s, and I quickly realized this genre may not be for me. Some of the scenes were just a little too over the top for my personal taste, although I can’t lie—there were a few that had me intrigued.
One thing I really enjoyed was how close both families were. I loved seeing the bond between their children, especially with two of them developing a relationship of their own. I also appreciated that the author included therapy and highlighted the importance of working through grief and loss instead of pretending everything was okay.
What I struggled with was how easily everyone seemed to accept the new relationship. Maybe it was just me, but I found that part a little hard to believe. Another thing I found interesting was that both married couples were carrying unresolved childhood trauma from their relationships with their parents, which added another layer to the story.
Overall, I enjoyed the book despite some of the over-the-top intimate scenes. Even though I feel like this couple’s story reached a satisfying conclusion, I’m still interested enough to continue the series because I want to see what’s next for the other characters.

As someone who doesn't typically read erotica, I found myself challenged by some of the more intense scenes, but also appreciative of the author’s effort to portray realistic emotional struggles. It was refreshing to see therapy portrayed as a vital part of healing rather than glossed over, especially as the characters face deep loss.
What stood out most to me was how the book highlighted the importance of family support and how the children’s bond added warmth and complexity to the narrative. It felt genuine to see the next generation develop their own relationships amidst the backdrop of parental grief. However, I did share the author’s difficulty suspending disbelief regarding how quickly the families accepted the new romantic relationship—some readers may find this aspect less convincing.
The intertwining of childhood trauma within adult relationships added a critical layer of depth that isn’t often explored in this genre. This element gave me insight into how past experiences profoundly shape present choices and emotions, making the characters’ journeys more relatable. Overall, although not my usual genre, the book offered more than just erotic content—it conveyed a meaningful story about healing and human connection, encouraging me to continue with the series to see how other characters evolve.
