Long review due to it being an series review

BOOK 4 HAD ME IN A CHOKEHOLD! 😭🔥📚

Book 4 was such a HIGH because SO MUCH was happening, and somehow, everything just kept getting WORSE! 😭😂 I’m not even sure where to start, so let’s just wrap this whole mess up altogether because BABYYYY, these people needed prayer, therapy, and a whole new set of parents!

Tasha: Her story started on such a low. Shard was a HORRIBLE boyfriend and father. Girl, you were better off by yourself! Now, what happened in Book 4 with him was A BIT MUCH, and for Coogie to treat Tasha like that was HORRIBLE. Did he eventually need to pull it together? YES! Absolutely! But sir, you did NOT have to go that far on her just because she was emotional. 😒 Tasha could NOT catch a break, and I was over here looking at everybody sideways!

Jah: Tasha’s son started off good, but by Book 2, he was already giving me a HEADACHE. By Books 3 and 4? BABY, HE WAS A MESS! 😭😂 Did he pull it together a LITTLE bit? Sure, but it was damn near at the end! This boy was out here doing grown-man stuff but wanted to act like a little boy when it came to his responsibilities. Sir, you cannot pick and choose when you want to be grown! Pick a struggle!

Dreka: GIRLLLLLLLL. 😭 You spent all that time talking about how you don’t trust men, men this, men that, and how your mama is the reason you are the way you are. Meanwhile, EVERY MAN you slept with had you falling in love! 😂😂 Every last one was the best thing since sliced bread until they weren’t! She was being driven by HATE and DICK, and I said what I said! 💀 I really thought she was going to get it together once she had her son, but NOPE! She was so mad at her child’s father that she stooped to a WHOLE NEW LOW with that ultimatum. And honestly? I am NOT shocked by her ending. Not even a little bit. The signs were signing, the red flags were flagging, and Dreka was still gonna Dreka!

Mikki, Mikki, MIKKI! WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN?! 😭😭 First of all, Mikki and Dreka were the SAME EXACT PERSON. Those two would’ve made some excellent hating-ass friends! 😂😂 They could’ve sat around, hated on everybody together, and passed the mess back and forth!

BUT MIKKI, HOW DO YOU GO THREE BOOKS with EVERYBODY telling you that you STINK, and you keep getting offended?! GIRL, AT SOME POINT, YOU HAVE TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR! 😭💀 And the men who kept sleeping with her were just as nasty as she was, so let’s not act like they were innocent in this situation either!

Mikki was the ROOT of her own demise. I’m being completely honest when I say I couldn’t see another outcome for her, especially after everything she did. She made so many choices that led her straight to that ending, and I can’t even pretend I didn’t see it coming!

AND THE PARENTS?! Tasha and Mikki’s parents had NO BUSINESS parenting ANYBODY! 😭 Somebody should’ve been checking on those children because the generational mess was MESSING! The dysfunction, the bad decisions, the hate, the drama… BABY, IT WAS A LOT!

Overall, this entire series was LOUD, RAW, NASTY, GHETTO, and a HOT-ASS MESS! 😂🔥 The lying, the cheating, the hating, the drugs, the sex, the drama, and the questionable decisions had me sitting there like, “Y’ALL CANNOT BE SERIOUS RIGHT NOW!”

And the crazy part? I ENJOYED EVERY SINGLE BIT OF IT! 🤣🙌🏾 This series gave me that old-school urban fiction feeling, where everybody is messy, nobody is minding their business, and somebody is ALWAYS doing something they have absolutely no business doing!

Was it a mess? ABSOLUTELY. Did I eat it up anyway? YOU DAMN RIGHT! 😂📚

5/5 ⭐️📚📖 FOR THE ENTIRE SERIES!

Now excuse me while I recover from the foolishness because these characters have put me THROUGH IT! 😭🔥

... Read moreHaving finished The Slums Episode Four: The Finale, I have to say the series truly captures the essence of old-school urban fiction—filled with chaotic relationships, raw emotions, and complex characters that feel deeply flawed yet compelling. What struck me the most is how the author didn’t shy away from showing generational dysfunction impacting the characters’ lives. From Tasha’s painful journey of dealing with toxic relationships and emotional turmoil, to Mikki’s self-destructive behavior fueled by denial and misplaced anger, the story pulls no punches. I could really relate to the frustration of watching characters make repeated bad decisions, especially when they seem trapped by their upbringing and environment. The tension between characters like Dreka and Mikki added another layer of gritty realism, highlighting how mistrust and unresolved pain can perpetuate cycles of conflict and hurt. Despite all the drama—cheating, fighting, substance abuse, and family strife—the series kept me hooked because of its unapologetic authenticity and emotional depth. One thing I appreciated in the finale was the closure it gave to these messy lives without sugarcoating the outcomes. It was a reminder that not every story has a neat ending and some wounds run deep. The writing style created vivid, emotional moments that made me feel connected to the struggles and triumphs, even if the chaos could be exhausting at times. If you enjoy urban fiction that’s loud, raw, and unfiltered with a focus on real-life struggles and complex personalities, this series is definitely worth the read. It offers more than just entertainment; it’s a reflection on how family, choices, and pain intertwine to shape us. Reading this series was like watching a dramatic, emotional soap opera unfold on the page, and I’m still processing the impact it left on me.
