A Journey of Self Re-discovery
Since my late husband's retinas detached in 2017 and I was thrust into a lonely and harsh world of caregiving and further being invisible, I have struggled to see me in my art. I have struggled to feel happy when I make my art or send it home. I have cried and quit nearly weekly, simply because I looked at my art and hated it because why does it get to be that happy and I don't? I felt like a sham, like I didn't embody what I wanted my art to show.
Over the last 2.5 years after his passing, I've worked hard to reclaim who I was in my art outside of being one to take care of his medical bills, daily house bills, and other things. It is why I started my business, after all, to pay for his ever mounting medical bills.
I think it's finally happening. For the first time in nearly a decade, I see myself in my art. I see the happy go lucky child I was, the one who was forced to grow up too fast but somehow managed to keep ahold of their joy through decades of loss and hardship. I see the happiness starting to sprout after years of germination. I see healing.
So I cried and cried. I cried because *finally* after so many years, I felt, even for a fleeting moment, like I captured the essence of who I am at a soul level and was able to share it with the world through a simple picture.
And it was then that I knew I truly was healing.

When I started AbssoluteAlchemy, it wasn't just about making art; it was about reclaiming myself. Many of you might relate to feeling lost, and for me, polymer clay became an unexpected path to rediscovery. There's something uniquely therapeutic about working with my hands, shaping vibrant colors into whimsical, colorful polymer clay figures. It's not just about the final piece; it's the meditative process of kneading, molding, and bringing a vision to life. This tactile connection helps quiet the noise in my mind and allows emotions to surface and transform. Through this journey with AbssoluteAlchemy, creating these whimsical, colorful polymer clay figures has become a tangible representation of my inner healing. Each piece, with its unique character, mirrors the joy I'm slowly rediscovering. It’s a reminder that even after immense loss, creativity can spark new life and happiness. If you're on your own healing path, don't underestimate the power of creative expression. You don't need to be an 'artist' to start. Whether it's painting, writing, or even just doodling, finding an outlet to express what's inside can be incredibly liberating. It's about the process, not perfection. Allow yourself the grace to explore and create for the sheer joy of it, and you might just find a piece of yourself along the way. My journey with AbssoluteAlchemy continues, and I hope by sharing my experience, it inspires you to embrace your own unique path to healing through creativity.
