I wake up a little early to do morning #bibestudy by watching a lady named Chanda Stagall on YouTube. This month we are focused on #advent study . She goes live cst but I’m pst , so I wake up early to do the replay . I use a CSB version Bible , but I have a few translations.. you will read from both CSB and NLT for context. If you are looking for 30 min devotionals, I enjoy her style of study .. reading , writing and reflection. #youtube #biblerecommendation

... Read moreHey everyone! I wanted to dive a bit deeper into what makes Zechariah 9:9-10 so powerful, especially during Advent. When I first started my morning study, these verses really jumped out at me, promising so much hope and a different kind of king than many might expect. The prophet Zechariah paints such a vivid picture, urging us to 'Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem!' Why this exuberant call to 'rejoice'? Because their king is coming – not on a warhorse, but 'righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey.' This imagery is so striking! It challenges our conventional ideas of power and leadership. For me, it's a beautiful reminder that true strength isn't always loud or dominant; often, it's found in humility and service. This 'humble king' is the complete antithesis of what the world often values. As I reflect on these verses, the idea of 'Zion's King' arriving in such a gentle way truly resonates. It speaks volumes about the peace He brings. Verse 10 explicitly says, 'He will proclaim peace to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.' Think about that – a king whose dominion is vast, not through conquest but through peace! This isn't just a historical prophecy; it’s a living promise for us today. In a world craving peace, this passage offers a blueprint for true, lasting restoration. It's not just about a future event; it’s about how we can live now, anticipating His reign. The 'Words of the day' from my notes, 'Rejoice/Flourish,' really tie into this. To flourish means to grow vigorously, to thrive. How can we thrive in His peace? For me, it means actively seeking out His presence, allowing His humble spirit to guide my interactions, and trusting in His vast dominion over all things. Practically, this study encourages me to slow down. Instead of rushing through my day, I try to pause and consider how this humble King’s message of peace applies to my own life and the people around me. It makes me think about where I can 'proclaim peace' in my small corner of the world. Maybe it’s through a kind word, a patient ear, or choosing forgiveness over resentment. This 'Walking in the Word' approach, where I read, write, and reflect, helps me internalize these truths. It's more than just reading; it's about letting the message of Zechariah 9:9-10 transform my perspective during this Advent season and beyond. It reminds me that the King who came humbly on a donkey is the same King who offers profound peace and promises ultimate restoration to all nations. What a powerful message to carry with us!
