Colors I have dyed my hair so far
I’ve dyed my hair a good amount of times but I honestly love changing my hair up #hair #haircolors #hairdye #fyp
Changing your hair color can be such an exciting way to express yourself, and honestly, it’s one of my favorite things to do! Seeing my hair transform through shades like vibrant Blue/Purple, fiery Red, sleek Black, or even trying out Blonde (that didn't stay long, haha!) has taught me so much about the process. When people ask me about trying new colors, they often want to know the 'steps' involved, not just in dyeing but in the whole journey. So, here are some insights and tips I've picked up along the way. First off, the most crucial step before diving into any new color, especially if it’s a drastic change like going from Dark Blue to Blonde, is preparation and research. I always start by looking at tons of inspiration photos to decide on the exact shade I want. Then, I consider my current hair health. Is it dry? Damaged? If so, I spend a few weeks doing deep conditioning treatments. A healthy base is key for the color to take well and last longer. For colors like Blue/Purple or Red, which are known to fade, starting with healthy hair makes a huge difference. Next, if you're planning a major transformation, especially if it involves lightening your hair significantly (like when I attempted Blonde), I highly recommend consulting a professional. They can assess your hair's condition and help you achieve your desired color safely, minimizing damage. If I'm just refreshing a shade or going for something similar, I might do it at home, but for big changes, it’s worth the investment. Always do a strand test and a patch test beforehand – these are non-negotiable steps to ensure you like the color and don't have an allergic reaction. Once the color is in, the real 'steps' for longevity begin. Maintenance is everything! For my vibrant shades like Blue/Purple, Red, Purple/Red, or Dark Blue, I strictly use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners. Sulfates strip color faster, and avoiding them is a game-changer. I also wash my hair with cool water, as hot water opens the cuticle and lets color escape. Deep conditioning masks once a week are also a must to keep the hair hydrated and the color locked in. For Black hair, maintaining its shine and preventing it from looking dull is important, so I focus on products that enhance gloss. Another tip I've learned, especially for those bright, unconventional colors, is to use color-depositing conditioners between washes. They help refresh the vibrancy without having to re-dye your entire head. This really helps extend the life of colors like my Blue/Purple and Red. And for sun protection, wearing a hat or using UV protectant sprays can prevent fading, especially during summer. Trying out all these different colors has been an adventure, and while some, like my Blonde phase, were short-lived, each transformation brought new learnings and a fresh perspective on hair care. It’s all about finding what works for you and having fun with it!
