Arts, Crafts, Food & Music: A Chicago Night Market
Argyle Night Market is a free street fest in Uptown Chicago styled after Asian night markets. There’s different food vendors, free samples, cultural performances, crafts, art, literally you name it. (Personal favorite is the bubble tea and banh mi sandwiches😋) This will run every Thursday night from 5 pm - 9 pm until the end of August! It’s located on Argyle Street between Kenmore and Sheridan. Check them out before they’re gone! 🍛🍝🧋 #lemon8partner #chicagostreetmarket #chicagofree Uptown
You guys, if you're looking for an unforgettable summer evening in Chicago, you absolutely have to check out the Argyle Night Market in Uptown! I recently went, and it truly captures the vibrant spirit of an authentic Asian street market right here in the city. Forget just hearing about it – you need to experience the sights, sounds, and incredible smells for yourself. It’s a completely free street fest, making it a perfect budget-friendly outing for friends, families, or a unique date night. When you arrive at the Argyle Night Market, the energy is palpable. Strolling down Argyle Street, which is beautifully transformed into a bustling pedestrian haven, I was immediately drawn to the diverse array of food stalls. Beyond the delicious bubble tea and banh mi that are staples, you’ll find an incredible spread of Asian street food. Think savory grilled skewers, steaming bowls of authentic pho, crispy spring rolls, flavorful dumplings, and unique desserts you won't find just anywhere. I even spotted some vendors offering refreshing drinks like a classic Topo Chico or special SUMMER STRAWBERY flavored concoctions – perfect for cooling down on a warm evening. It's a fantastic opportunity to try new flavors and support local, often family-run, businesses. Every corner offers a new culinary adventure! But it's not just about the food! The market truly shines with its cultural performances. I saw a lively traditional dance group and listened to talented musicians playing captivating melodies, which really added to the festive and celebratory atmosphere. There are also so many local artisans showcasing their unique crafts and beautiful art pieces. From handmade jewelry and intricate paper lanterns to vibrant paintings and custom apparel, it's a great spot to find a one-of-a-kind gift or just admire the incredible creativity of Chicago's local artists. The community vibe here is infectious, with everyone enjoying the lively environment. A few practical tips if you're planning your visit to this amazing Chicago night market: Go early: It gets pretty busy, especially later in the evening. Arriving closer to 5 PM means shorter lines for those must-try food items and a more relaxed stroll. Bring cash: While many vendors accept cards, some are cash-only, and it's always good to have some small bills handy for quick purchases. Public transport is your friend: Parking can be tricky in Uptown. The Argyle 'L' stop (Red Line) drops you off right there on Argyle Street, making it super convenient and stress-free. Come hungry and curious: Be ready to explore and try new things! This is your chance to step out of your culinary comfort zone. Wear comfortable shoes: You'll be doing a lot of walking, browsing, and perhaps even dancing along to the music! Don't forget it's FREE! A fantastic budget-friendly outing for everyone to enjoy the vibrant culture. This gem of a Chicago night market only runs on Thursday nights from 5 PM to 9 PM until the end of August, so don't miss out on enjoying this fantastic community event.
