Working on a DOOH commercial has been an eye-opening experience that goes far beyond the brief moments viewers see on screen. The term DOOH stands for Digital Out Of Home advertising, which refers to ads displayed on digital screens in public spaces. This type of advertising is rapidly growing and offers fresh opportunities for creators and actors like myself. What struck me most during this experience is the intense preparation that happens behind the scenes. From scripting and rehearsals to technical setups in the studio—referred to as 'TS Studio' in our workspace—the process demands meticulous coordination. Every shot requires precision and everyone on the team must deliver their best to put together a seamless final product. Being part of this journey taught me the value of teamwork as each member, whether on camera or behind the camera, contributes to the storytelling. For example, acting for a DOOH commercial is different since the message must be clear and engaging within just a few seconds. It challenged me to be more expressive and connected to the audience quickly. I also gained insight into the innovative uses of technology in DOOH advertising. The dynamic screens allow for real-time updates and targeted campaigns, making this platform very exciting for creatives seeking versatile exposure. As a side gig, this experience enriched my skills and opened my eyes to the expanding world of digital advertising. For anyone considering a similar path, I recommend embracing every part of the process and valuing the collective effort that goes into creating these small but impactful commercials.
