National Louisiana Day
It's National Louisiana Day! Saddle on up to a bowl of gumbo, an oyster po'boy, and hit your food with some extra Tabasco sauce. Of course, you definitely need to listen to some Dixieland Jazz. If you are ever in the French Quarter of New Orleans, a visit to Jackson Square is a must. Grab some sugary beignets and stroll around sampling the varied jazz music. You might get lucky enough to catch the Swampy Squirrel Stompers. Their foot-stompin', tail-shakin' good time music is sure to put a smile on your face.
Artist's Note: This photo was capture late at night in Jackson Square with the St. Louis Cathedral in the background. My wife and I did enjoy sampling lots of the local food, including beignets from Cafe Dumonde (the acorns enjoyed them, too!). I had so much fun photographing the acorns at several iconic locations, but this one just screams "Louisiana Day" to me.
