... Read moreMy visit to Quechee Gorge truly felt like stepping into a postcard! While the main article mentions it's great for 'all-level hikers,' I wanted to share a bit more about what you can expect on the trails. Even if the very bottom was closed during my visit, the upper trails offered incredible perspectives. The main trail, often called the 'Grand Canyon of Vermont,' provides breathtaking views right from the start. You'll find well-maintained paths, making it accessible for families and casual walkers alike. I loved seeing the river winding through the deep, tree-lined canyon with its impressive rocky banks from various viewpoints. The trail signs were very helpful, indicating distances to different spots, even if some parts were temporarily inaccessible. Don't miss the Quechee Gorge Bridge view – it’s iconic! Many people come for the gorge, but there’s so much more to explore in the area! If you're wondering about 'things to do in Quechee VT' beyond the main trail, I highly recommend checking out the Quechee Gorge Visitor Center. It’s a great starting point for maps and local information. Just a short drive away, you’ll find Quechee Gorge Village. It's a charming spot with antique shops, craft stores, and even a general store where you can grab some Vermont-made goodies. It’s definitely worth a stop, especially if you’re looking for unique souvenirs or just want to stretch your legs after your hike. I found some really cute local crafts there! During my exploration, I also discovered the 'DAM OVERLOOK.' It offers a different, but equally beautiful, perspective of the flowing water and surrounding lush green trees. And for a truly serene experience, I stumbled upon 'DEWEY'S MILL POND.' It was such a peaceful spot, with lily pads and water lilies decorating the surface under a clear blue sky. It’s a perfect place for a quiet moment or an impromptu picnic. When planning your trip, consider wearing comfortable shoes for the trails, even the easier ones. Also, remember to bring water, especially if you plan on spending a few hours exploring. The aerial views you see in pictures really don't do justice to the scale and beauty of this Vermont gem. It's a place I'll definitely be returning to for more adventures!
