Transmute: to change in form, nature, or substance 🌊🌫️🌧️
Taking life's ups + downs, filtering them through the mind, and spitting them back out as a pretty picture -- that's the work in a nutshell.

Hey creative souls! You know how sometimes life just throws so much at you? Those moments, those feelings, those 'horrors' that seem to just 'persist, but' – well, I've found a way to channel all that energy. It's truly amazing how our ability 'to transmute them' can be a powerful force for good, especially in art. For me, illustration isn't just about drawing pretty things; it's a deeply personal process of taking all those raw emotions and experiences and transforming them. When I'm feeling overwhelmed or down, I don't just push those feelings away. Instead, I acknowledge them. I let them sit with me for a bit. This is often where the initial spark of inspiration comes from. I might start by journaling, just writing down exactly how I feel, no filter. Then, I move to sketching. These aren't polished pieces, just quick scribbles or doodles that try to capture the essence of that feeling. It’s about letting the emotion flow onto the paper, exploring shapes, colors, and compositions that resonate with what’s going on inside. This is where I actively try 'to see the good, the magical, the not-so-horrible that earth has to offer,' even amidst the struggle. I've found that this process helps me gain perspective. It's like I'm giving those difficult experiences a new form, a new narrative. Instead of letting them weigh me down, I'm turning them into something tangible and beautiful. It's incredibly therapeutic. For anyone looking to find their own creative outlet, try this: don't shy away from your difficult emotions. Let them be a starting point. Grab a pencil, some paint, or even just your phone, and try to express what you're feeling without judgment. Think about the metaphors in your life. Is there a wave crashing, a forest growing, or a quiet moment of reflection? These everyday observations can be powerful symbols for your inner world. The 'horrors' might 'persist,' but so does your innate creativity and your capacity to find beauty. This artistic transmutation isn't about erasing the pain, but about evolving with it, creating something meaningful that reflects your journey. It makes my art feel so much more authentic and gives me a sense of purpose. Give it a try, you might be surprised at what you can create when you open yourself up to transmuting your experiences!
