... Read moreStarting my film journal has been such a rewarding experience, and seeing all my handwritten notes from January really brings back the memories of each watch! I know a lot of you out there love keeping track of your films and shows, and there's something so special about a physical journal spread compared to just a digital list. It's a creative outlet that lets you truly dive into your thoughts on what you're watching. For instance, when I reviewed *Squid Game: Season 2*, even though it only got a 2/5 from me, taking the time to write down my synopsis and personal comments helped me articulate exactly why it didn't quite hit the mark. It wasn't just a number; it was about reflecting on the plot points and character arcs that resonated (or didn't!) with me. I always try to include a brief synopsis to jog my memory later, along with my immediate reactions and a rating. It makes looking back so much more engaging than just a quick star review online. If you're thinking of starting your own film journal, or if you're looking to elevate your current one, here are a few tips I've picked up. First, don't be afraid to get creative with illustrations! You don't have to be an artist; even simple doodles or icons related to the film, like a microphone for Pitch Perfect or a sorting hat for *Harry Potter*, can make your journal spreads visually exciting. I love seeing how other people decorate their pages! I also find that jotting down key quotes or memorable scenes really adds another layer to my handwritten notes. Another thing that makes my journal special is including 'comfort movie' sections. For example, Camp Rock and Crazy Rich Asians both earned a 1000/5 from me – these are the films that just bring pure joy! Documenting why these films hold such a special place, what feelings they evoke, or even specific moments I adore, makes the journal a true reflection of my taste and emotional connection to cinema. It’s not just about critical analysis; it’s about personal connection. I've also found it helpful to track series like The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 3 or *XO, Kitty: Season 2*. For these, I might include overall season ratings and highlight my favorite episodes or character developments. It’s a fantastic way to keep tabs on ongoing stories and see how my opinions evolve over time. So, whether you’re reviewing intense dramas like *Cruel Intentions*, action-packed series like *The 100*, or childhood favorites like *Cloud 9*, a film journal is a wonderful way to celebrate your cinematic journey. It's your space to explore, critique, and cherish the stories that move you. I hope this inspires you to grab a pen and start documenting your own unique film adventures!
