college student moves into nyc apartment
This summer, I moved to NYC for 3 months! This meant packing my entire life into 3 suitcases. I don’t know how I managed to do it… but somehow I figured it out!
This was from my first day in NY when I had to fly all the way from CA. It was definitely stressful!
Moving to New York City as a college student for the summer can be both exciting and challenging. One of the biggest hurdles is packing efficiently when you have limited space—three suitcases, in this case. To make this manageable, prioritize versatile clothing and essentials that can be mixed and matched for different occasions. Remember to include important documents, chargers, and personal care items to avoid last-minute stress. Traveling from the West Coast to NYC adds another layer of complexity due to the long flight and potential fatigue upon arrival. Planning ahead by scheduling flights that allow for rest and ease of transport can help. Upon arrival at the airport, having a clear plan to reach your new apartment is vital; consider pre-booking transportation or using reliable ride-sharing services to navigate the city comfortably. Living in an NYC apartment for a short-term stay involves adapting to a new environment. Space is typically limited compared to college dorms or homes, so embrace minimalism. Utilize storage solutions like under-bed organizers and wall hooks to maximize your living area. Exploring the neighborhood can also enhance your NYC experience—take time to find local markets, study spots, and relaxation areas. For students juggling summer classes or internships, managing your time in such a bustling city is crucial. Establish a daily routine that balances work, study, and exploring the city. Make use of public transit apps and services to get around efficiently. Embracing the experience fully, despite the initial stress of moving and adjusting, can make your summer in NYC memorable and rewarding. Sharing your journey with fellow students through social media or community forums tagged with hashtags like #collegeinnyc and #lemon8college can also provide support and connect you with others in similar situations.

NYC in the summer sounds amazing, but also expensive. My bank account is crying just thinking about it.
