🌿Soul Rest Sunday🌿
🌿Soul Rest Sunday🌿
Matthew 11:28 ~
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Have you ever noticed how tired your soul can become even when your body isn’t exhausted?
Life has a way of piling things on our hearts. Responsibilities. Worries. Disappointments. Unanswered prayers. The weight of caring for others. The pressure to keep going when we’d rather curl up and hide.
Sometimes we try to find rest in a day off, a nap, a vacation, or even mindless scrolling. While those things may refresh our bodies for a moment, they cannot fully restore a weary soul.
Only Jesus can do that! 🙌🏼
Soul rest isn’t found in escaping life’s storms. It’s found in sitting with the One who walks through every storm with us.
Today, Jesus is inviting you to lay down the burdens you’ve been carrying. The burden of trying to figure everything out. The burden of worrying about tomorrow. The burden of believing you have to do it all on your own.
Take a deep breath.
The same God who created the heavens and the earth is holding your life in His hands. Nothing has caught Him by surprise. Nothing is too difficult for Him. Nothing is beyond His reach.
Before you rush into another busy week, pull up a chair at His table. Open His Word. Sit quietly in His presence. Let His peace wash over your heart like a gentle stream.
Your soul was never designed to carry what only God can carry! 🤍
Today, choose rest.
Not just physical rest.
Soul rest.
Because when your soul rests in Jesus, your heart remembers that He is still God, He is still good, and He is still working.
Father, thank You for being our place of rest. Forgive us for carrying burdens You never asked us to hold. Today we lay our worries, fears, and struggles at Your feet. Fill our hearts with Your peace and remind us that You are in control. Refresh our souls as we spend time in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen! 🤍

Reflecting on the message of Soul Rest Sunday reminds me how often I have mistaken physical breaks for true rest. I recall a time when I felt utterly drained not because of the tasks I physically accomplished, but because of the mental and spiritual weight I carried silently. Like the verse Matthew 11:28 says, "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest," it's clear that only Jesus can truly restore our souls. In our busy lives, it’s so easy to try to handle everything alone — the pressures of responsibility, the anxieties over unresolved troubles, even the emotional toll of caring for others. These burdens can be invisible but deeply exhausting. What helped me most was intentionally setting aside quiet moments to sit with God, away from distractions, to read scripture and pray. This practice, as encouraged by Breaking Bread with Stacey, acts like a gentle stream washing over the heart, renewing strength and peace. I also found it important to recognize the difference between soul rest and physical rest. Taking a nap or a vacation might rejuvenate the body, but it’s soul rest that revives our hope and renews our perspective. It requires a conscious choice to trust in God’s control and invite Him to carry burdens we were never meant to bear. Even just 15 minutes of focused time in God’s presence—opening the Bible, reflecting on His promises, and laying down worries—can transform an overwhelmed heart. This intentional daily practice helped me remember that God remains good and faithful regardless of life’s storms. If you find yourself exhausted despite rest, I encourage you to pull up a chair at His table, silence the noise, and let His peace fill your soul. That rest is not a passive escape but an active, trusting surrender that refreshes deeply. Truly, your soul was never designed to carry what only God can carry.
