Smoked Baby Back Ribs
This is my hubby's thing. Smoked baby back ribs. I don't know all of the ingredients he used, but I do know of 3. Mustard, Applewood seasoning, and butter.

There's nothing quite like biting into a perfectly tender, smoky baby back rib, and my husband has truly mastered the art! While our original post just touched on his main ingredients like mustard, Applewood seasoning, and butter, there's a crucial step that makes all the difference: the foil wrap. So many of you asked about it, and it's truly the secret behind those fall-off-the-bone ribs. After a few hours on the smoker absorbing that wonderful Applewood flavor, the ribs reach a point where they need a little extra help to become unbelievably tender without drying out. This is where the "Texas Crutch" or foil wrap comes in! We carefully take the rack of smoked baby back ribs off the heat and prepare them for their foil bath. My hubby usually lays out a large piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil, big enough to completely enclose the ribs twice, ensuring no precious juices escape. Before wrapping, he'll often add a splash of liquid inside the foil – sometimes apple juice, beer, or even just a little more melted butter. This liquid, combined with the natural moisture from the ribs, creates a steaming environment that helps break down the tough connective tissues. This is key to achieving that incredibly tender texture. We sometimes even add another pat of butter directly on top of the ribs at this stage, along with a sprinkle of brown sugar, which helps create a beautiful glaze later on. You can really see the golden, textured seasoning, from the mustard binder and Applewood blend, getting ready to meld with all these flavors. Once everything is added, he wraps the ribs tightly, creating a sealed packet. It's so important to seal them well to keep all that moisture and steam locked in. Then, back onto the smoker (or into the oven if you prefer) they go, usually at a slightly higher temperature, for another couple of hours. During this phase, the ribs are literally resting in a pool of juices within that aluminum foil, allowing them to braise and become incredibly succulent. When you unwrap them, the sight is truly glorious – glistening ribs, pulling back from the bone, infused with deep smoky flavor and a rich, tender texture. It's a simple step, but it elevates homemade smoked ribs to a whole new level!
