Breakfast Hotdish
Once again, the first picture is a lot prettier than my picture 😂
l did use too much cream of mushroom so don't do that unless you like it runny like this
Ingredients:
-2 kielbasa sausages
-Cream of mushroom soup
-Diced potatoes
-2 bags of Sharp cheddar shredded cheese
Directions:
-Peel, wash, and then cut and dice the potatoes (if you're using real potatoes) otherwise you can use frozen diced potatoes. Throw into crockpot
-Slice the kielbasa in pieces and throw into crockpot
-Pour cream of mushroom soup in the crockpot
-Pour the shredded cheese into the crockpot
-Turn on high for 4-5 hours or on low for 6-7 hours so the potatoes soften if using real potatoes
For anyone looking to make a hearty and satisfying breakfast, this hotdish recipe offers a fantastic balance of flavors and convenience. Using kielbasa sausages adds a smoky and savory element, which pairs wonderfully with the creamy texture brought by the sharp cheddar cheese and cream of mushroom soup. When selecting the diced potatoes, you can choose fresh potatoes for a fluffier texture or frozen diced potatoes for ease and time-saving. One tip to keep the hotdish from becoming too runny, as mentioned in the main recipe, is to moderate the amount of cream of mushroom soup used. Too much can lead to an overly liquid consistency; if you prefer a thicker casserole, consider adding less soup or supplementing with a thickener like a light sprinkle of flour or a bit of cornstarch mixed into the soup before cooking. The slider of the slow cooker setting is also a valuable option that allows flexibility. High for 4-5 hours is ideal for when you need to prepare quickly, but low for 6-7 hours softens the diced potatoes perfectly if you have more time, resulting in a creamier and more integrated flavor. Brands like Ore Ida sharp cheddar, Johnsonville smoked sausage, and Campbell’s cream of mushroom soup bring reliability and familiar tastes, enhancing the overall comfort food appeal. This recipe is great for batch cooking on weekends to have a ready-to-eat morning meal during hectic weekdays. Pair with fresh fruit or a side salad for a balanced breakfast. Overall, this breakfast hotdish is a warm, cheesy, and satisfying start to any day, easy to assemble and customize to your preferences.
