✨ Strawberry Valentines Roll Recipe ✨

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, here are some delicious rolls that you can make to feel festive! My kids love these rolls with a creamy cream cheese frosting.

Ingredients

• ¾ cup warm milk (110°F)

• 2¼ tsp active dry yeast

• ⅓ cup granulated sugar

• 1 large egg, room temperature

• ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted

• ½ tsp salt

• 3½ cups all-purpose flour

• 1½ cups finely chopped fresh strawberries

• ⅓ cup granulated sugar

• 1 tbsp cornstarch

• 1 tsp lemon juice

• ½ tsp vanilla extract

• 4 oz cream cheese, softened

• ¼ cup butter, softened

• 1½ cups powdered sugar

• 1 tsp vanilla extract

• 1–2 tbsp milk or cream

Directions:

-In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of the sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. Add the remaining sugar, egg, melted butter, and salt, then mix well. Gradually add the flour and knead for 5–7 minutes until the dough is soft and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

-While the dough rises, add the chopped strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice to a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly, for 5–7 minutes until the mixture thickens and becomes glossy. Remove from heat, stir in the vanilla, and allow the strawberry filling to cool completely.

-Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a 14×9-inch rectangle. Spread the cooled glazed strawberries evenly over the dough. Roll the dough tightly from the long side and cut into 10–12 rolls. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30–45 minutes until puffy.

-Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 22–25 minutes, until lightly golden on top and cooked through.

-While the rolls bake, beat together the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth. Spread the glaze over the warm rolls and serve.

... Read moreMaking homemade strawberry rolls is a wonderful way to add a personal touch to your Valentine's Day celebration. From my experience, the key to success is patience during the dough rising stages to achieve a soft and fluffy texture. I found that using fresh, ripe strawberries for the glaze dramatically enhances the flavor, making it both sweet and slightly tangy. When preparing the strawberry filling, cooking it over medium heat until it thickens to a glossy consistency helps prevent sogginess in the final rolls. The addition of cornstarch acts as a perfect thickening agent, while a splash of lemon juice brightens the flavor. Rolling the dough tightly ensures beautiful spirals and that each bite delivers a generous amount of strawberry filling. Placing the rolls in a greased pan and covering them during the second rise prevents drying and helps them puff up nicely. The cream cheese frosting adds an irresistible creamy sweetness that complements the fruity glaze perfectly. Using softened cream cheese and butter, then slowly beating in powdered sugar and vanilla, results in a smooth and luscious topping. Adding a bit of milk adjusts the consistency, allowing you to spread it easily over warm rolls. For a festive touch, consider garnishing the finished rolls with sliced fresh strawberries or a light dusting of powdered sugar. These strawberry Valentine’s rolls are not only a delightful treat but also a fun baking project that can engage the whole family in the kitchen. Whether you enjoy them fresh out of the oven or slightly cooled, they promise a cozy, sweet experience perfect for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion.
