Lemon Cinnamon Rolls Recipe
Dough Ingredients:
•3 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
•1 cup warm milk
•2 ¼ tsp instant yeast
•¼ cup granulated sugar
•1 egg + 1 egg yolk
•¼ cup melted butter
•1 tsp salt
Lemon Filling:
•½ cup softened butter
•¾ cup granulated sugar
•2 tbsp fresh grated lemon zest
Cream Cheese Buttercream:
•4 oz cream cheese, softened
•4 tbsp butter, softened
•1 cup powdered sugar
•1–2 tbsp milk
•½ tsp vanilla
Directions:
- In a bowl mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5 minutes. Add egg, egg yolk, melted butter, salt, and flour. Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise 1 hour.
- Roll dough into a large rectangle. Spread softened butter, sprinkle sugar, then evenly add grated lemon zest. Roll tightly, slice into rolls, and place in a greased baking dish.
- Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes. Bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes until lightly golden.
- Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth. Spread over warm rolls and enjoy.
