You guys loved seeing my dog getting her tan on in the pictures! It's seriously one of her favorite summer activities. She’ll find the perfect sunny spot, often right on our gravel patch, and just flop onto her back with her dark grey/brown belly completely exposed to the sun. Sometimes I think she’s more dedicated to her tan than I am! It’s such a funny, quirky habit, and it always brings a smile to my face when I see her completely relaxed, just soaking up the rays. But while it looks incredibly cute and laid-back, it also made me think a lot about dog safety in the sun. When I first started noticing her doing this, I wasn't entirely sure if it was okay. I mean, we humans put on sunscreen, right? So, I did a bit of research to make sure my fur baby was safe while enjoying her sunbathing sessions. I learned that just like us, dogs can get too much sun, and even get sunburned! Their noses, ear tips, and especially those areas with thinner fur like their bellies – exactly where my pup loves to 'tan' – are really susceptible. Now, whenever she decides it’s tanning time, I make sure there’s always a shady spot easily accessible for her to retreat to if she gets too warm. Hydration is key, so I always have a bowl of fresh, cool water nearby. On really hot days, I might even bring out a little kiddie pool with shallow water for her to splash in and cool off. I’ve even looked into dog-specific sunscreens for those extra sensitive areas, though I haven't needed to use one yet for her particular sunbathing habits. It's all about finding that balance between letting them enjoy their natural instincts and keeping them safe. It’s funny how her chill routine often mirrors my own, especially on days when I’m working remotely. While she’s catching some rays, I’m often catching up on work emails or connecting with clients, just like I was making that $540 while she was lounging. It really emphasizes the 'perfect day' vibe – everyone getting to enjoy their preferred way of relaxing and being productive. These moments remind me that learning skills that allow for location independence isn't just a cheat code for my own life, but it also means I get to spend more quality time observing and caring for my beloved pet, making sure her "tanning" sessions are always safe and enjoyable. It's these simple, everyday joys that truly make life wild and wonderful!
