The Shining👻
I’ve seen The Shining movie once, and like we all know, the book is always better. After finishing the movie, I knew I had to dive into the book, and now that I’m 50% in, I totally get why Stephen King hates the film adaptation. So many details and plot points make way more sense in the book than they ever did in the movie. 👀
I’ve been waiting all year to read this during spooky season, and I’m beyond excited to finish it and rewatch the movie. I can’t wait to tell my fiancé all the things the movie missed or explain scenes that now actually make sense. 😅 #TheShining #SpookyReads #StephenKing #BookVsMovie #letschat
📖🎬 Book vs. Movie Showdown: My Thoughts 🎬📖
Okay, update time! I finally finished the book and rewatched the movie, and OMG… every book girly knows the book is always better, but in this case?! 😱 The book was on a whole other level! There’s like almost zero resemblance between the two. The only thing that really stuck was the hotel trying to take over Jack’s body to keep the family there, but even that’s off because the book wanted Danny! 🧠 It didn’t care about the rest of the family! 🤯
And honestly, if the movie had killed Jack the way they did in the book, it would’ve made SO much more sense. Like, seriously—reading the book gave me so much clarity, and then watching the movie again just highlighted all the gray areas that were fixed in the book. Even if a movie based on a book leaves you feeling like that, it says a lot about how badly the adaptation missed the mark! 💀🙄
I totally get why Stephen King hates the movie now. After reading the book, I’m shook. 😳 If they ever remake this, it needs to be a series, breaking down each part of the book. 📺 But honestly… how would they even pull off turning this book into a decent movie or show?! It’s that complex. 🙃
Has anyone else felt this way? Drop your thoughts below! ⬇️
Stephen King's 'The Shining' is a masterful horror novel that delves deeper into the psychological complexities of its characters, especially Jack and Danny Torrance. While the movie adaptation is iconic, it lacks several critical plot elements. Many readers find that the emotional depth explored in the novel enhances the horror elements, making it a richer experience. The changes made for the film, such as the portrayal of the characters and the climax, often leave fans craving more accuracy to King's narrative. King himself has expressed frustration with how the film adapted his work, leading many to believe that a detailed series adaptation would do justice to the intricate plot lines and character development. This ongoing debate between book lovers and movie-goers continues to spark discussions each spooky season, as audiences compare the chilling experiences offered by both mediums. If you're inclined to dive into more analyses or even want to share your own, there's a community eager to discuss all things related to 'The Shining' and Stephen King's captivating storytelling.
