6 books I started my year off with

January reading recap and apparently… she still reads?? 😂📚

Finished six books this month and honestly loved having quiet time to just relax and get lost in stories again.

Biggest surprise: They Both Die at the End — it had been collecting dust on my shelf for over a year and WOW. I went in with zero expectations and ended up completely hooked. Definitely the one I wish I would’ve picked up sooner.

My least impressive read was The Perfect Divorce. I did read The Perfect Marriage, but honestly I barely remember it — which probably says a lot about how it stuck with me 😅 I used an Audible credit during one of those “2 books for 1 credit” promos, so nothing against it… I just think that style of thriller is harder for me to really be wowed by.

Overall though — six books down and a really cozy start to the reading year ✨📖

... Read moreStarting the year with a fresh reading list can be incredibly rewarding, especially when it offers a mix of genres and unexpected gems. I’ve found that revisiting books that have been sitting on my shelf—just like "They Both Die at the End"—can be a delightful surprise. It’s amazing how a title that didn’t catch your eye before suddenly becomes unputdownable when the mood is right. Audiobooks are also a fantastic way to expand your reading, especially with promotions like "2 books for 1 credit" on Audible. However, not every genre hits the same for everyone; for example, thriller styles like "The Perfect Divorce" might not resonate if you prefer stories with deeper emotional connection or more complex plots. Engaging with a reading community through book clubs or forums, like #januarybookclub or #yearlyreading, can enhance your experience by offering fresh perspectives and recommendations. I personally enjoy mixing lighter, cozy reads with more intense or thought-provoking books to keep my reading routine balanced and exciting. Setting a goal of six books in a month is manageable and allows for quality over quantity. It also gives space to truly relax and get lost in stories, which is often one of the best ways to unwind. Sharing your reads and thoughts encourages others to pick up books they might not discover on their own, creating a ripple effect of literary joy. Whether it’s a bestselling novel capturing your heart or a quiet filler read providing a comforting escape, the key is to keep exploring and enjoying the diverse world of books. Here’s to a year full of great stories and cozy reading moments!
