hi! John is one of my favorite chapters of the new testament, and i wanted to come on here and talk a little about it!
to start of, John is one of the gospels. the definition of the word gospel is “the teaching or revelation of Christ.” all of the gospels have different ways of teaching about Christ. Matthew is to convey Jesus as a teacher, Mark focuses on Jesus’ strength, and overcoming evil. Luke shares the story of Jesus’ life, and John wrote his book to prove and provide evidence that Jesus Christ is the living son of God.
John was one of Jesus’ disciples, and he was also the one who baptized Jesus in the Jordan river, hence his title, John the Baptist. John was a man filled with faith and love, and he was not scared to share the story and love of Christ. this book shares so many stories of Jesus and his life, and i love the way the author wrote this book. Instead of portraying Jesus as a superior, the author describes Jesus as a human being in the flesh, because there is only one true God!
i could go on, there is soooo much to cover in this chapter!! if this gets recognition, would you like to hear more about diving deep into the bible? lmk!!

... Read moreHey everyone! So glad you're interested in diving deeper into the amazing Gospel of John. My last post just scratched the surface, but there's so much more profound truth to uncover, especially in those highlighted passages many of us cherish. It's truly one of my favorite parts of the New Testament for a reason!
Let's start with John 3:16-18, often called the 'heart of the Bible.' 'For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.' This verse isn't just words; it's a profound declaration of God's unconditional, boundless love for each of us. It truly reassures me that no matter what challenges I face, I am loved, and I have a path to eternal hope through Jesus Christ. Understanding this foundational truth is key to grasping 'my identity in Christ'—that I am loved, redeemed, and have a purpose.
Then there's John Chapter 1, which the OCR images confirm is often highlighted in Bibles. Verses 1-5, 'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...' This passage is absolutely mind-blowing! It tells us that Jesus isn't just a prophet or a good teacher; He IS God, present at creation. He is the 'light' that shines in the darkness, bringing life and understanding into the world. For me, this really solidifies the idea that Jesus is truly divine, fully God and fully human, just as John intended to prove in his Gospel. The verses highlighted in pink and orange in my Bible, discussing creation and light, really bring this to life.
And who could forget the beautiful promise in John 14:27? The OCR shows this particular verse often highlighted in pink, and for good reason! 'Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.' In our busy, often anxious lives, this verse is a constant source of comfort and strength. It's not just a temporary calm, but a deep, abiding peace that only Jesus can offer, a 'peace of mind and heart' that transcends understanding. I find myself coming back to this verse whenever I need reassurance and a reminder to trust in His guidance.
These specific verses – from John 1, John 3, and John 14 – aren't just random 'highlighted bible verses.' They are cornerstones of the Christian faith, painted with vibrant truths that illuminate who Jesus is and what He offers us. Exploring them helps us understand the true purpose of the 'Gospel of John' and how it profoundly shapes our 'identity in Christ'. I hope reading through these insights encourages you to open your own Bible and let these words speak to your heart, just as they have to mine!
I really like John, especially the parts about Jesus’ baptism, and how humble John was, The way he understood how great of an honor it was to even be in the presence of Jesus.
