🛑 This Advice Almost Wrecked My Life
Girlllll… I’ll be the first to admit that I fell for these lies b/c everyone else seemed to be doing it and getting along just fine 😮💨
When we’re hurting, exhausted, or just trying to survive, worldly wisdom sounds soooo good.
Hyper-independence, playing “get back” and putting yourself first seems empowering b/c it gives us a sense of control. But tbh? These survival tactics are just counterfeits of God’s wisdom. It's the enemy’s subtle attempt to isolate us and keep us from reaching our full potential.
If you’ve found yourself in survival mode trying to save yourself…. No shame. We’re growing together, sis! 🫶🏽
I'm learning that God’s wisdom is so much safer than the things I thought would be helpful.
If you want to unlearn the way of the world and start trusting God's plan, it's time to seek His wisdom❤️

Unlearning the World’s Wisdom
1. The Scripture:
Proverbs 2:2-12
Proverbs 3:5-8
1 Corinthians 3:18-20
Ephesians 5:15-17
James 3:13-17
🧠 2. Understanding the Word:
How would you contrast the “wisdom of the world” with the “wisdom from above”?
Proverbs 2 says God’s wisdom will guard and protect you. How is God’s protection different from the self-protection that happens when we lean on our own understanding?
🤔 3. Reflection Questions:
Look at the advice you’ve been consuming lately. Is it feeding your ego, or is it conforming you to the image of Christ?
What is one area of my life where I am exhausting myself trying to be my own savior right now?
💡 4. Application:
Proverbs 2 says to search for wisdom like “hidden treasure.” How can I change my morning or evening routine this week to actually search the Word & pray before I scroll?
How can I practically replace the worldly lie I’ve been believing? (e.g., writing the truth on my mirror, making it my lock screen, setting a daily alarm).
🙏🏼 5. The Prayer:
Lord, expose the areas where I am being wise in my own eyes. I lay down my need to be right and my habit of self-reliance. Give me Your wisdom, which sees the eternal picture. Amen. 🤍

From personal experience, I found that following trendy advice like hyper-independence or playing "get back" games only led to isolation and emotional exhaustion. It felt empowering initially because it gave me a false sense of control, but ultimately it was a trap that kept me stuck in survival mode. What helped me transform was intentionally shifting my focus from self-reliance to seeking God’s wisdom daily. Incorporating scriptures such as Proverbs 2:2-12 and James 3:13-17 into my morning routine became a hidden treasure—a source of guidance that didn’t just benefit me in the moment but shaped my long-term path. Instead of scrolling through social media at dawn, I began praying and meditating on God’s Word, replacing worldly lies with godly truths that I wrote on my mirror and set as phone wallpapers. A real eye-opener was understanding how worldly wisdom feeds the ego—encouraging actions like tit-for-tat retaliation or following feelings without discernment—while God’s wisdom humbles and protects, revealing the bigger picture beyond temporary emotions. This realization allowed me to stop wearing exhaustion as a badge of honor and instead lay down my habit of being wise in my own eyes. If you’re feeling drained from trying to save yourself, it’s okay to admit it. The enemy’s lies often masquerade as empowerment but isolate us from community and trust in God’s plan. Praying for discernment and making small but consistent changes—like journaling your reflections and setting reminders to seek God first—can rebuild your foundation on truth. Remember, unlearning world’s wisdom takes time and grace. But as Proverbs warns, the way that seems right can lead to destruction, while God’s path delivers life and peace. Let this journey be one of growth, healing, and discovering true empowerment through faith and dependence on God’s everlasting wisdom.
