Both equally my moms. Both forever in my heart. And both shaped me to be the mother I am today. I love both and the love and care I receive from both only helps support me.

Growing up with both my birth mother and adoptive mother has been a unique and enriching experience that shaped who I am today. I have learned that love from both can coexist beautifully, each contributing in its own special way to my identity and emotional well-being. My birth mother gave me life and roots, grounding me in my origins and culture. Meanwhile, my adoptive mother has nurtured me with daily care, support, and guidance, creating a loving home where I could thrive. Mother’s Day for me is not about choosing one or the other but celebrating the combined love and sacrifices from both. It’s about recognizing that adoption can create expanded families filled with love beyond biology. I cherish the lessons and values passed down from both women — resilience, compassion, and unconditional support. For anyone navigating open or international adoption, acknowledging both mothers can bring healing and acceptance. It’s okay to honor each mother's impact without diminishing the other’s role. Their combined presence often offers a richer tapestry of family and belonging. Personally, this dual connection has enhanced my own role as a mom. I draw from the strengths of both mothers’ examples to nurture my children with openness and understanding. Each Mother’s Day reminds me to appreciate the unique gifts that adoption and birth families bring to one’s life journey.
