How I learned to dress in my 30’s

I used to run away from short clothes!! One thing I used to do was wear clothes that made me look shorter! Im already 5’2!! So playing around with different styles has shown me that wearing shorter skirts, skorts, shorts and creating some space between my shoes and where the skirt/short ends, makes my legs look longer!

And it makes me look taller too which is always a plus!!

Dont be scared to play around with different styles and you might be surprised with what suits you best!!

... Read moreIt's amazing how our personal style evolves, especially as we step into our 30s! I remember feeling a bit lost, wondering if I needed to completely overhaul my wardrobe or if certain styles were 'off-limits' now. But what I've learned is that your 30s are actually a fantastic time to refine your style, embrace what makes you feel great, and boost your confidence through fashion. Just like I discovered, playing with proportions can be a game-changer. For years, I avoided mini skirts, skorts, and even shorts, thinking they'd make my 5'2" frame look even shorter. But it was quite the opposite! By showing a little more leg, especially with a defined waistline, it creates an illusion of length, making my legs appear longer and giving an overall taller silhouette. Paired with a chic pair of boots or heels, as you can see in some of my favorite recent outfits, this trick works wonders. Even a simple white top with a black mini skirt, or a plaid mini skirt with a long-sleeved top, suddenly feels sophisticated and stylish. But it's not just about looking taller; it's genuinely about feeling more confident. When I started experimenting, I noticed a huge shift in how I carried myself. Fashion in your 30s isn't about following strict rules; it's about understanding what flatters your body and expresses your evolving personality. Don't be afraid to try on unexpected pieces. For example, I’ve found that a well-fitting denim jacket can instantly elevate almost any casual look, whether it's over a simple tank top and denim shorts or adding structure to a bodysuit and skort. Here are a few more tips I’ve picked up on my journey to a more confident 30s style: 1. Focus on Fit and Fabric: Investing in pieces that fit well and are made from quality fabrics can make a huge difference. You don't need a massive wardrobe, just well-chosen items that drape beautifully and feel good against your skin. This instantly makes an outfit look more polished, whether it's a casual brown t-shirt or a sophisticated white top. 2. Embrace Versatile Staples: Build a foundation with versatile items like a great pair of well-fitting jeans, a classic blazer, and a few solid-colored tops. Then, you can mix and match with more trendy pieces. I love how a simple black biker shorts outfit can be dressed up with heels and a denim jacket, or kept casual with sneakers and a flannel. 3. Accessories are Your Friends: The right accessories can transform an outfit. A stylish handbag – whether it's a large brown tote bag for practicality or a trendy crescent-shaped bag for a pop of color – can pull a look together. Don't underestimate the power of shoes either; from chic beige boots to elegant black heels, they complete your aesthetic and can even play into the leg-lengthening trick! 4. Experiment with Trends, Thoughtfully: You don't have to jump on every trend. Pick and choose what genuinely resonates with you and integrates well with your existing wardrobe. Empowering fashion trends for women over 30 often revolve around comfort, quality, and self-expression. Think about how a new trend can complement your existing style rather than define it. Ultimately, learning to dress in my 30s has been about self-discovery and empowerment. It's about shedding old insecurities and embracing the joy of fashion. So, take a cue from my experience: don't be scared to play around with different styles. You might just surprise yourself with what suits you best and how much more confident you feel!
