Explore the San Francisco aquariums with me!🪼🐧🦈

Just got back from San Francisco yesterday & as a big aquarium lover I got to go to 2 aquariums while I was there! Aquarium of the Bay located at Pier 39, & Steinhart Aquarium located at California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park!

Both aquariums were such an awesome experience. I got to see things like sharks, penguins, stingrays, snakes, jellyfish. We also went over to the rainforest side at the Academy of Sciences & got to see parrots & a whole bunch of butterflies! Seriously such an awesome time😊🦋🪼🦈 have you guys been here? If not they definitely need to be added to the San Francisco bucket list!😊

... Read moreMy recent trip to San Francisco was absolutely packed with aquatic wonders, and I just had to share more about exploring its incredible aquariums! While the original article gave a peek, there's so much more to dive into, especially if you're trying to figure out which one to visit or what to look forward to. First, let's talk about the Aquarium of the Bay at Pier 39. This place truly captures the essence of the San Francisco Bay's marine life. The absolute highlight for me, as seen in the photos, was walking through their spectacular aquarium tunnel. It felt like being completely immersed underwater! Above my head, schools of fish glided by, and seeing majestic sharks and graceful stingrays swimming just inches away was breathtaking. You can really get up close and personal with the creatures that call the Bay home. And don't even get me started on the jellyfish exhibit! The "moon jellies" glowed with such an ethereal light; it was incredibly calming and beautiful to watch them pulsate through the water. My tip for Aquarium of the Bay is to go early in the morning right when they open. It gets quite busy later in the day, and you'll want to take your time in the tunnels without feeling rushed. Next up was the Steinhart Aquarium, nestled inside the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. This is a completely different vibe, offering a broader look at aquatic life from around the world, not just the local bay. One of the most vibrant sections was the coral reef exhibit. The explosion of colors from the different types of coral, anemones, and other marine plants was simply stunning. I saw so many unique fish, including a striking yellow and pink striped one that caught my eye! It was fascinating to peer through the circular porthole windows and discover these miniature underwater worlds. And who could forget the penguins? Their playful antics, both swimming and waddling on land, were an absolute joy to watch. You could spend ages just observing them! Beyond the aquatic displays, remember to also explore the famous Rainforests of the World dome within the Academy. Seeing the colorful macaws and countless butterflies flutter around you truly makes it an immersive experience. If you're wondering which one to choose, it really depends on what you're looking for. Aquarium of the Bay offers a very focused, immersive experience with local marine life, especially known for its tunnels and close encounters. Steinhart Aquarium, being part of the California Academy of Sciences, provides a more global and diverse presentation, blending marine life with other natural history exhibits like the rainforest. If you have time, I honestly recommend visiting both! Each offers a unique and unforgettable perspective on the aquatic world. Remember to check out their websites for ticketing information and any special exhibits before you go. You won't regret adding these to your San Francisco bucket list!
