YOU MIGHT BE SABOTAGING YOUR GLUTE GAINS

Here’s why resting in between your unilateral (single side) exercises is so important 👇🏻

I used to not rest either. The sooner I just got it done the better! (Not really!) until I understood WHY at least a 60 second rest is important or 3 minutes for heavier/failure sets for maximum muscle hypertrophy (GROWTH!).

Here’s why not taking rest can affect you negatively…

Think of each side having its own jar of energy, you deplete that then tap into the center jars energy to finish your set. If you don’t rest and just start on the other side you’ll have decreased output of performance because that center jar of energy hasn’t had adequate time to refill.

So in simpler terms, you’re working one side harder than the other which can lead to imbalances, decreased muscle growth and not equal quality of reps for each side.

Are you going to be resting in between your unilateral sets now?! 😊

... Read moreResting adequately between unilateral exercises is critical for optimal performance and muscle growth. When you perform unilateral exercises, each side of your body works independently, tapping into separate energy stores. If you fail to rest sufficiently, the energetic resources of your body may not be replenished, resulting in fatigue and decreased effectiveness in subsequent sets. This can lead to uneven strength development and muscle imbalances over time, ultimately sabotaging your fitness goals. Research shows that muscles grow and recover when given proper rest. The generally recommended rest duration between sets is approximately 60 seconds for lighter weights and 2-3 minutes for heavier loads. This break allows muscles to recover and rebuild, promoting hypertrophy and enhancing performance in your next set. By incorporating this practice into your workouts, you increase the likelihood of achieving balanced muscle growth in the glutes, ensuring both sides of your body are strengthened equally. Furthermore, consider varying your workout routine by integrating different unilateral exercises that challenge your muscles in unique ways. Activities such as single-leg deadlifts, Bulgarian split squats, and single-arm rows can all contribute to building strength and muscle in a controlled manner while allowing for necessary rest intervals. Prioritize rest to truly unlock the potential of your glute gains.
