MISTAKES I WOULD AVOID IN MY FITNESS JOURNEY!

If I were to do it all over again these are the things I would tell myself to avoid making some of the same mistakes I did that just cost me time:)

It’s ok to learn from your mistakes too and what works for me might not work for everyone so just keep that in mind.

... Read moreHey everyone! Following up on my initial thoughts about fitness journey mistakes, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into some of the biggest lessons I’ve learned, especially for anyone who might be new to the gym or feeling a bit stuck. It’s easy to get overwhelmed, but trust me, avoiding these common pitfalls can make a huge difference in your progress and enjoyment. One of the first things I wish I’d fully grasped earlier is that food is not an enemy. For so long, I viewed eating as something to be controlled and minimized, especially if I wanted to lose weight. This led to restrictive cycles, low energy, and ultimately, a slower path to my fitness goals. What I learned is that proper nutrition is your fuel! Increasing my calorie intake with nutrient-dense foods actually helped me build muscle and feel stronger during my workouts. It’s all about balance and finding what truly nourishes your body, rather than seeing food as something to fear. Think of it as supporting your body’s hard work, not punishing it. Another game-changer for me was embracing the idea that movement is medicine, not punishment. There were times I’d miss a workout or indulge a little too much, and then I’d fall into this all-or-nothing mindset. I’d feel guilty and either over-exercise or just give up entirely for a while. Now, I understand that life happens! If I miss a session, I simply get back on track normally. A short walk or a gentle stretch is still movement, and it’s always better than doing nothing. It’s about building sustainable habits, not striving for perfect adherence every single day. Listen to your body, respect its need for rest, and choose activities that you genuinely enjoy. And let’s talk about lifting! If there’s one piece of advice I could shout from the rooftops, it’s to stop ego lifting. Oh, the number of times I pushed myself to lift weights that were too heavy, just to impress myself or others, only to compromise my form and risk injury. It's counterproductive! My biggest gains came when I focused on lifting heavy with good form. Instead of just trying to hoist the heaviest dumbbell, concentrate on feeling the muscle work, controlling the movement both up and down. Aim for that sweet spot of 8-12 reps where the last few reps are challenging but you can still maintain perfect form. Controlled movements not only prevent injury but also ensure you’re actually working the target muscle effectively. Remember, it's not about how much weight you lift, but how well you lift it. Making these shifts in my approach transformed my fitness journey from a frustrating chore into an empowering lifestyle. It's okay to learn along the way, and I hope sharing my experiences helps you make your journey smoother and more rewarding!

I worked out ever since I was 13 years old and I stopped for a year and got back into it and never in my life had stretch marks behind my knees and I just want to get rid of them and I’m using bio oil and stretch cream and some faded but am noticing new ones and it made me insecure in the gym honestly. What can I do to remove them?
