EASY 10 MINUTE LOWER BODY MOBILITY/WARMUP ROUTINE!

I know most of us (I used to be this person) don’t warmup and here is your sign to STOP and here’s why…

Skipping your warmups not only can lead to injuries (which will keep you either out of the gym or limited to what you can do) but can lead to imbalances, aches, pains and ultimately not making as must progress in the gym.

For example:

If you can’t squat as deep without your ankles coming up you’re putting more stress on joints and muscles like your knees and not engaging your glutes leading to pain in your knees and your glutes not growing. Make sense?

So don’t skip your warmups, focus on your mobility and be consistent.

This is what my warmup for my lower body typically looks like. It will only take 10 minutes or less!

Save and try at the gym or at home.

... Read moreWhen I first started my fitness journey, I totally underestimated the power of a good warm-up. Like many of you, I'd just jump straight into my lifts, often feeling stiff or even experiencing minor aches. But once I truly embraced a dedicated 10-minute routine, especially focusing on key movements like the deep lunging hamstring stretch, my entire workout experience transformed. It's amazing how much more you can get out of your lifts with just a little preparation! Let's dive into the deep lunge into hamstring stretch specifically, since it's a game-changer for lower body mobility and a key part of my routine. I used to think a quick toe touch was enough, but this stretch is on another level. Here’s how I do it to get the most benefit: I start in a deep lunge position, making sure my front knee is directly over my ankle and my back leg is extended straight behind me. Then, I slowly straighten my front leg, hinging at my hips and keeping my back as straight as possible, feeling that intense stretch right in my hamstring. I try to keep my chest up and avoid rounding my back. If reaching the floor is tough, I'll place my hands on my front thigh or use a yoga block for support. Holding this for 20-30 seconds per side truly lengthens the muscle safely. This specific movement helps immensely with squat depth, preventing those frustrating moments where your ankles come up, and allows for much better glute engagement, which means more gains and less knee strain! Beyond the deep lunge into hamstring stretch, I've found other dynamic movements are fantastic for overall lower body readiness. I always include lateral leg swings because they gently wake up my hip abductors and adductors. I stand tall, holding onto a wall for balance, and let my leg swing freely side-to-side, gradually increasing the range of motion. It feels so good to loosen up those tight inner thighs! Then, for a deeper hip opener, the pigeon stretch is a must. If a full pigeon pose is too much for me on a particular day, I start with a figure-four stretch lying on my back. It’s incredible for releasing tension in the glutes and hips, which can get really tight from sitting or lifting. And don't overlook wall calf stretches! Ankle dorsiflexion is critical for squat depth, and tight calves can really limit you. I just lean against a wall, one foot forward, pushing my heel down on the back leg. It’s simple but incredibly effective at improving that crucial ankle mobility. It's not just about doing these stretches once; it's about the consistency. My lower body mobility has improved dramatically, leading to safer, more effective workouts. I truly get more out of my lifts, just like the image said! By consistently incorporating these OCR-identified stretches into my 10-minute routine, especially the deep lunge into hamstring stretch, I’ve noticed a significant reduction in post-workout soreness and a massive improvement in my overall strength and flexibility. Don't let those potential injuries or plateaus hold you back – a quick 10 minutes makes all the difference in setting your body up for success and achieving your fitness goals!
