My favorite fitness Apps I use!

My top two apps I use for my fitness progress are these two here..

My Macros + is for tracking my food to make sure I hit my daily protein goal. = Protein helps burn fat/build muscle so is very important to hit your daily goal!

Runkeeper is for tracking my runs. I’m running a 10k for the very first time as a beginner runner and I use it to track my pace so I know when to speed up, slow down or keep a consistent pace. It makes running more fun to see these stats!

I’m curious, what are your go-to apps for fitness?

Building on my initial thoughts, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into how these tools, and a few others, have really transformed my approach to fitness. When it comes to tracking my food, My Macros+ has been a game-changer. I know a lot of people search for apps like MyFitnessPal, which is also fantastic, but for me, My Macros+ really shines when you're serious about hitting specific macronutrient goals – especially protein. The barcode scanner feature on My Macros+ is incredibly handy. It makes logging meals super quick; I just scan the packaging, and it usually pulls up all the nutritional info. If not, the 'Search For Food' function is really robust. This meticulous tracking helps me ensure I'm getting enough protein to support my muscle growth and recovery, as well as managing my fat and carb intake for energy and overall body composition. I've found that being precise with protein intake, as mentioned for burning fat and building muscle, makes a huge difference in how I feel and how my body responds to my workouts. Beyond just protein, understanding your overall daily macros is key for sustained progress. Whether your goal is fat loss or muscle gain, these apps provide invaluable insights. For those looking for a dedicated protein tracker app, My Macros+ is definitely one to consider. It’s more than just a calorie counter; it empowers you to understand what you're eating and how it aligns with your fitness objectives. And for my running, Runkeeper is still my go-to! As I train for my first 10k, getting those stats on my pace and distance keeps me motivated. But what about a broader workout plan app? While Runkeeper focuses on cardio, I've started exploring ways to integrate strength training into my routine. For general workout plans, I sometimes use apps like Nike Training Club for guided sessions, or even just a simple notes app on my phone to jot down my own gym routines. It's all about finding what works for your specific goals, whether you're lifting weights or training for a race. A common question I see is about syncing different fitness data – like combining workout stats with calorie intake for recovery insights. While My Macros+ and Runkeeper don't natively integrate all data seamlessly with each other or with MyFitnessPal, many athletes (myself included!) often use a combination of apps and then manually review the data to get a full picture. For example, I track my runs in Runkeeper and my food in My Macros+, then I might use a separate health app on my phone (like Apple Health) to get a combined view of my daily activity and calorie burn. This helps me understand my recovery needs and adjust my nutrition accordingly. It's not always a perfect automatic sync, but taking a few minutes to connect the dots manually can provide those crucial insights for optimizing your training and overall well-being. It’s all part of the journey to becoming a stronger, healthier version of myself!
