Heads and Shoulders, Christmas Games
Christmas Games 2024. #christmasgames #gamenight #cousins
Christmas is all about joy, family, and creating those special, lasting memories. And what better way to do that than with some lively Christmas games? Every year, my family and I look forward to our annual Christmas game night, and for 2024, I'm already planning some fantastic activities to keep everyone entertained, from the little ones to the grandparents. One game that was a huge hit last year, and is definitely making a comeback for Christmas 2024, is our festive twist on 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees & Toes'. You might think it's just for kids, but trust me, when you add a competitive edge and some holiday-themed rules, it becomes an absolute riot for adults too! How We Play Our Christmas 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees & Toes' (2024 Edition!): First, gather everyone in a circle or around a table. Instead of just touching your head, shoulders, knees, and toes, we introduce Christmas-themed actions. Heads: Touch your head, but then immediately grab a Santa hat (if available) or pretend to pull on reindeer antlers. Shoulders: Touch your shoulders, then quickly mimic shrugging off a heavy sack of presents. Knees: Touch your knees, then pretend to kick snow or ice skate. Toes: Touch your toes, then wiggle them like little elves' feet! The game leader starts by slowly calling out the actions, speeding up as everyone gets the hang of it. The goal is to keep up and perform the actions correctly. If someone messes up or is too slow, they're out, or they have to do a silly Christmas-themed dare (like singing 'Jingle Bells' in a funny voice or doing an elf dance). For an extra layer of fun, we sometimes add a 'Christmas Object Grab'. Place a small, soft Christmas ornament or a candy cane in the middle of the circle. When the leader suddenly shouts 'Christmas Grab!', everyone tries to snatch the object. The person who gets it gets a point, or the last person to grab it is out. This really gets the adrenaline going! Beyond 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees & Toes', there are so many other fantastic Christmas games perfect for your 2024 celebrations. Here are a couple more ideas that always get smiles: 1. Christmas Charades: Write down various Christmas-related words or phrases (e.g., 'decorating the tree,' 'Santa Claus,' 'opening presents,' 'sleigh ride,' 'gingerbread man'). Divide into teams and act them out without speaking. It's amazing how creative people get! 2. Unwrap the Present (with oven mitts): This is always hilarious. You'll need a small, nicely wrapped gift, a pair of oven mitts, and two dice. Players take turns rolling the dice. If you roll doubles, you immediately put on the oven mitts and try to unwrap the gift. While you're struggling, the next player keeps rolling. If they roll doubles, they snatch the mitts and try to unwrap. The person who eventually unwraps the gift gets to keep it! These games are fantastic for breaking the ice, getting everyone laughing, and making your Christmas gathering truly special in 2024. Remember, the goal is to have fun and create those cherished holiday memories together. So, gather your loved ones, pick out a few games, and get ready for a memorable Christmas game night!
