who loves red wine chicken? please go and try out L5 Bak Kut Teh @ Grantral Mall
honestly, walked past many times but because of the tinted windows, it looks super depressing and unsettling but decided to give this a try because they had a lunch special from $7.90 onwards (sorry, need to save money)
went in and ordered the red wine chicken mee sua ($9.90) and hua diao chicken with rice ($10.90). both comes with drink and get their luo han guo please. DAMN GAO DAMN NICE
but ya both dishes were unexpectedly good, the hua diao chicken came sizzling, tried it with rice and let me exaggerate, i think the rice also solid, can feel the individual grains 🙄
honestly when i saw the red wine chicken mee sua, it looked damn sad HAHA but wow the soup was really shiok.
ok go try
If you're curious about the dining scene at Grantral Mall, L5 Bak Kut Teh is definitely a hidden gem you shouldn't overlook. Despite its simple and unassuming exterior — those tinted windows might throw you off — the food packs a punch when it comes to flavor. During my visit, I opted for the red wine chicken mee sua and hua diao chicken with rice. Both dishes came with a refreshing Luo Han Guo drink that perfectly complemented the savory meals. I was particularly impressed by how the hua diao chicken was served sizzling hot, paired with rice that was cooked just right, allowing you to savor every individual grain. It’s these little touches that show their dedication to quality. While the red wine chicken mee sua might not look glamorous at first glance, the soup was incredibly comforting and rich in depth — a real highlight that kept me coming back to my bowl. If you're exploring Grantral Mall, especially during lunchtime specials, I recommend giving L5 Bak Kut Teh a try. From my experience, the prices are reasonable, and the hearty portions make it a satisfying meal. Plus, it’s always exciting to find unexpectedly good food spots where you least expect them. For those interested in other food options nearby, Grantral Mall also hosts various eateries including McDonald’s and local dessert shops like Gunkee Cheesecake, which are worth a visit too. But for traditional and well-seasoned Bak Kut Teh, L5 remains my top choice here. Next time you pass by, don’t let the exterior deter you. Step in, try the specials, and enjoy some authentic and delightful Bak Kut Teh flavors that stand out in the Grantral Mall food scene.
