Leaders Who Point the Sky But Never Look at the Clay: Reflections on Thai Society Today

"Some leaders... keep talking about big goals, but never look at the problems in front of them."
This sentence may sound like a mere murmur, but it is, in fact, a slashing simulation of today's Thai society.
A horse that hurts but is forced to run.
People are no different from "horses" who are injured, tired of living problems, high costs of living, unstable jobs, but instead of the authority taking a break to heal, force it to move on, continue to use, even when it is clear that the force is running out of blood, the hope is getting tired.
The wall in front of it, but it points to the sky.
Problems in front of them, such as disparity, corps, the education system, and politics, are in the way of a big wall, but the leader chooses to look at the sky and declare a big dream, as if a fancy word would make the wall disappear. In fact, the wall is still there, strong, and higher every day.
A society that loves image more than truth.
Thailand is a country where many leaders are more passionate about "visualization" than real solutions. We like opening ceremonies, like project announcements, like big words, but don't like to look down on broken foundations, like a house that is repainted every year, but never repairs a collapsing pile.
Command vs. truth
Keep ordering, pointing, but never touching the truth, never bending to see what "takes us forward" like the Thai economy, agriculture, education, or labor... is it still ok? Or is everything really sick, neglected, almost falling.
Conclusion
Beautiful words are no different from temporary fireworks, but they go off quickly. If the basics are full of problems, illness and neglect, society can't go far, no matter how big a person points the sky or announces a dream.

ในช่วงเวลาที่สังคมไทยเผชิญกับปัญหาหลากหลายไม่ว่าจะเป็นภาวะเศรษฐกิจที่ฝืดเคือง ความเหลื่อมล้ำที่เพิ่มสูงขึ้น และระบบการศึกษาที่ไม่สามารถตอบสนองต่อความต้องการของประชาชนได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ ความสำคัญของการมีผู้นำที่สามารถมองเห็นสภาพปัญหาที่แท้จริงในพื้นที่รากหญ้าและลงมือแก้ไขอย่างเป็นรูปธรรมจึงยิ่งทวีความจำเป็นมากขึ้น ปัญหาความเหลื่อมล้ำทางสังคมยังคงเป็นประเด็นที่ผู้นำไทยหลายคนเลือกมองข้าม เพราะการแก้ไขนั้นต้องใช้เวลาและทรัพยากรอย่างมาก แต่การมุ่งเน้นเพียงการพัฒนาโครงสร้างใหญ่หรือโครงการที่ดูยิ่งใหญ่ในสายตานานาชาตินั้นไม่ใช่วิธีที่จะทำให้ประชาชนส่วนใหญ่ชีวิตดีขึ้นได้อย่างแท้จริง ในขณะเดียวกัน ระบบการศึกษาของไทยยังคงต้องได้รับการปฏิรูปอย่างลึกซึ้ง เพื่อให้สามารถผลิตบุคลากรที่มีคุณภาพและตอบโจทย์ความต้องการของตลาดแรงงานในยุคปัจจุบัน การที่ผู้นำละเลยปัญหานี้ เหมือนกับการละเลยเสาเข็มของบ้านที่กำลังทรุดโทรม แม้จะมีการทาสีใหม่หรือสร้างภาพภายนอกที่สวยงาม แต่เมื่อมองลึกลงไป ฟื้นฟูพื้นฐานเหล่านั้นถือเป็นกุญแจสำคัญสู่ความยั่งยืน นอกจากนี้ คอร์รัปชันและการเมืองที่ติดหล่มยังทำให้ระบบต่าง ๆ ในประเทศไม่สามารถดำเนินไปอย่างราบรื่น ส่งผลให้ประชาชนจำนวนมากรู้สึกหมดหวังและขาดแรงจูงใจ ทั้งที่คนเหล่านี้เปรียบเสมือนม้าที่บาดเจ็บที่ยังต้องถูกบังคับให้วิ่งต่อไปโดยไม่ได้รับการดูแลรักษาอย่างเหมาะสม บทบาทผู้นำที่แท้จริงจึงควรเป็นผู้ที่ไม่เพียงแค่ประกาศวิสัยทัศน์หรือเป้าหมายที่ยิ่งใหญ่ แต่ต้องลงมาสัมผัสปัญหาอย่างใกล้ชิด เข้าใจความทุกข์ยากของประชาชน และมีการวางแผนแก้ไขปัญหาในระดับพื้นฐานอย่างจริงจังแล้วนำมาสู่การปฏิบัติที่มีประสิทธิภาพ แทนการสร้างภาพหรือคำพูดที่ดูดีแต่ขาดการดำเนินการตาม สังคมไทยในวันนี้จึงต้องการผู้นำที่ไม่เพียงแต่ชี้ฟ้าหรือสร้างฝันที่สวยงาม แต่ต้องก้มลงมองดิน ลงมือรักษาเสาเข็มของบ้าน และเข้าใจความเดือดร้อนของชาวบ้านจริง ๆ เท่านั้น จึงจะนำพาประเทศไปสู่ความเจริญและความเป็นธรรมอย่างแท้จริงได้ในอนาคต
