... Read moreI recently decided to give my iPhone home screen a complete refresh, and I'm so excited to share my easy guide on how to customize your home screen to achieve that perfect aesthetic look! Whether you're aiming for a cozy brown aesthetic like mine or something entirely different, personalizing your phone screen makes it feel so much more 'you.'
It all starts with a vision and the right tools. For my aesthetic home screen, I relied on a few fantastic apps: Color Widgets, Widgetsmith, Photowidget, and, of course, Pinterest for endless inspiration. These apps are game-changers for anyone wondering how to make a custom home screen or how to design your home screen with a unique touch.
First things first: Inspiration on Pinterest. This is my absolute go-to for finding aesthetic wallpapers and color palettes. I searched for "aesthetics brown wallpaper," and wow, the options were incredible! Spending a little time here really helps set the tone for your entire home screen customization. Save all your favorite images; you'll need them for your widgets and possibly for custom app icons.
Next, let’s talk about widgets – they're the heart of a truly customized phone screen. I primarily used Color Widgets and Widgetsmith. Color Widgets is fantastic for quick, stylish widgets with pre-designed themes, backgrounds, and fonts. It's super intuitive for changing widget backgrounds and modifying text. I found it perfect for adding a consistent color scheme to my larger info widgets.
For more personalized photo widgets, Widgetsmith and Photowidget stepped in. With Widgetsmith, you can select specific photos from your camera roll to display in various widget sizes. This is brilliant for incorporating those "aesthetics brown wallpaper" images you found on Pinterest directly into your home screen without having to constantly change your main wallpaper. I loved being able to curate specific photo collections for different widget slots.
Here’s a quick rundown of my customization process:
Gather Your Aesthetic: Start with Pinterest. Find your desired aesthetic (like my brown one!) and save a collection of wallpapers, icons, and inspirational images. This makes the next steps much smoother.
Design Custom Widgets: Open Color Widgets. Play around with different sizes (small, medium, large) and explore their themes. You can customize the backgrounds, fonts, and even the information displayed. For photo-based widgets, head over to Widgetsmith or Photowidget. Select your preferred widget size, then choose the photos you want to feature. This is where those Pinterest finds really shine!
Set Custom App Icons: This step, while a bit more time-consuming, truly elevates the overall look. Although not directly an app feature, you can use the Shortcuts app on your iPhone to create custom app icons. Find icon images that match your aesthetic (often also on Pinterest), add them to a shortcut that opens your desired app, and then add that shortcut to your home screen. It sounds complex, but there are many tutorials online, and it’s totally worth it for a cohesive look.
Arrange Your Home Screen: Once your widgets and custom icons are ready, it’s time for the fun part: arranging everything. Drag and drop your newly created widgets and custom app icons onto your home screen. Experiment with the layout until you find a balance that’s both functional and visually appealing. You can dedicate entire pages to specific aesthetics or themes.
It’s amazing how much a few simple steps and the right apps can transform your device. Don't be afraid to experiment with different themes and layouts. This guide should give you a solid starting point for your own iPhone home screen customization. Happy customizing!
