I HAD NO IDEA!
I had no idea how much I would love and appreciate this phase of my life…
For all of my life, I was building things …
they were all about adding ….
More people.
More responsibility.
More projects.
More goals.
More stuff.
More grinding.
This phase is totally different because most of what I’m building now is actually subtracting…
Less people.
Less fixing.
Less rescuing.
Less chasing.
Less comparison.
Less noise.
Less need.
Instead I’ve BUILT Peace!
And peace is a weird project because from the outside it looks like I’m doing less,
when in reality I’m integrating all the pieces I’ve spent sixty-three years gathering.
It’s freaking awesome ✌️🩵

Transitioning into a phase of life where the focus shifts from accumulation to subtraction can be unexpectedly rewarding. Many people spend their early and middle years chasing more—more goals, responsibilities, and possessions—believing that external achievements define their worth. However, this phase of life often opens doors to a deeper understanding of fulfillment by simplifying and prioritizing peace. In my own experience, embracing 'less' has been liberating. Letting go of excessive commitments and the constant pursuit of more has allowed me to reconnect with what truly matters: meaningful relationships, personal well-being, and a calm mind. This process involves setting boundaries around the people and tasks I engage with, reducing the noise of daily life, and releasing the pressures to fix or rescue situations constantly. The beauty of this subtractive approach is the integration of accumulated life lessons and experiences into a cohesive sense of peace. It’s like assembling a puzzle where each piece has shaped who you are, and now you’re crafting a tranquil masterpiece. This peace isn't passive; it’s an active, ongoing project that requires mindfulness and intentional choices. Many find that adopting such a mindset results in greater self-compassion and less comparison to others. It fosters a serene environment that nurtures creativity, reflection, and joy in the present moment—a stark contrast to previous years marked by relentless activity and striving. If you’re navigating this phase or anticipate entering it, consider focusing on what you can subtract rather than add. This shift can open new paths toward unshakeable peace and a love for life that is profound and lasting. Embrace the serenity that comes from doing less but living more fully.
