"PEOPLE OVER 25 SHOULDN'T CLUB"

or so I've heard...

Hey lovelies🍋 With the festive season rolling about, I thought that it'd be pretty timely to have a conversation about the go-to nightlife activity: Clubbing🕺🏻🪩

Things have been looking...interesting, as off late what with Halloweekend just last week. With that said, I look forward to hearing your thoughts once again!

... Read moreClubbing age limits and preferences vary widely, especially in dynamic nightlife scenes like Singapore's. While legal age restrictions are clear—typically 18 or 21 depending on venue—whether someone is 'too old' to club is often debated socially rather than officially enforced. Many clubgoers over 25 find the energetic, youthful atmosphere a bit different from what they seek, leading some to prefer bars or alternative nightlife venues with a more mature or laid-back vibe. In my experience and conversations with others, the key factor isn’t just age but the “vibe” you want. Younger crowds tend to bounce to EDM and enjoy high-energy parties, while older patrons might prefer spots with better seating, upscale ambience, or less intense music. This difference can make some feel out of place in mainstream clubs geared toward younger audiences. It’s also worth noting the social and safety concerns highlighted by many, particularly female patrons, about nightclubs being spaces where unwanted attention or risky situations may occur. Taking precautions like going out in groups, choosing venues thoughtfully, or visiting establishments with reputations for better crowd management can make clubbing more positive and enjoyable. Alternatives such as cocktail lounges, non-alcoholic raves, or community-focused nighttime events are gaining popularity, offering a fresh scene where age and lifestyle preferences are respected. For those over 25, exploring these can provide a fulfilling nightlife without the feeling of being 'too old.' Ultimately, whether clubbing after 25 is right for you depends on what you seek from a night out. Age limits technically set entry boundaries, but a richer nightlife experience comes from finding your community and comfort in the venues you choose. If you’re curious, don’t hesitate to experiment and discover where your ideal balance between fun, safety, and vibe lies.

Honestly this post feels disconnected from actual nightlife culture. As a Gen Z with ADHD, my perspective is the opposite. People under 25 are often the ones who shouldn’t be in clubs. There are only two kinds of clubbers: the real OGs who rave for the love of the music and those who show up just to mingle. The older crowd above 25 usually goes for the music itself. Whether it’s hardstyle, techno, or trance, they’re the ones who stay for the full set & respect the space. Meanwhile it’s often the younger ones who ruin the scene. They can’t handle their liquor, spiral emotionally & end up causing drama or fights. I’ve watched it happen more than once. That’s why I prefer proper outdoor music festivals. When it’s real rave culture & the crowd is actually P.L.U.R (iykyk), you don’t get that chaos. We don’t judge & age doesn’t matter when you’re there for the love of the music, & that dopamine boost.
