Comparison operator / JavaScript

# Web Site Writing Basics

# javascript

# Comparison operator

Comparison Operators in JavaScript are used to compare two values and send Boolean values, true or false.

Here are some of the main comparison operators used in JavaScript:

Basic comparison operator

Operator, call name (in Thai), meaning, example, result

= = equals. Check if the values of the operand (operand) are the same (there may be a data type transformation). 5 = = '5' is true.

! = Not equal. Check if the values of the two operands are not equal (possibly data type conversion) 5! = '6' true

= = = = Strictly equal. Check that the values of both operands are equal and have the same data type. 5 = = = '5' is false.

! = = Strictly unequal. Check that the values of the two operands are unequal or that there are 5 different data types! = = '5' true.

> greater. Check if the value on the left is greater than the value on the right. 10 > 5 is true.

< Less than. Check if the value on the left is less than the value on the right. 5 < 10 is true.

> = greater than or equal to. Check if the value on the left is greater than or equal to the value on the right. 5 > = 5 is true.

< = Less than or equal to Check if the value on the left is less than or equal to the value on the right. 5 < = 10 true.

Export to sheet

The difference between = = and = = =

The difference between the = = (Equality) and = = = (Strict Equality) operators is very important in JavaScript writing:

= = (Equal): Coercion is performed before comparing. If the data type does not match, it will try to convert one or both values to the same data type first and then compare them.

Example: 1 = = '1' The result is true (the string' 1' is converted to the number 1).

= = = (Strictly equal): will not convert data types, it will return true only if the values and data types of the two operands match exactly.

Example: 1 = = = '1' The result is false (equal value but different data type: number vs. string).

In general, it is recommended to use = = and! = = to avoid automatic data type conversion behavior of JavaScript that can lead to unexpected errors.
