Are you a fixer?
Because so many people slip into that mode without even realizing it.
Always scanning for what’s wrong.
What needs adjusting.
What needs solving next.
Carrying things that aren’t even theirs to carry.
And I’ll be real… I do this too.
I’ve had to catch myself in it more times than I can count.
But I’ve been working on shifting that. Learning to pause. Learning to stop defaulting to “fix” everything and everyone, and actually just be where I am.
Because if you stay in fixer mode too long, you don’t really live your life… you just manage it.
And there’s a big difference between the two.
Many of us fall into the fixer role without realizing it, constantly searching for what’s wrong or what needs to be solved. I’ve experienced this myself, often feeling the pressure to carry burdens that aren’t really mine. Over time, I noticed that living in fixer mode stripped away the joy and spontaneity of life—it felt like I was merely managing problems rather than truly living. What helped me most was consciously practicing the pause. Instead of rushing to solve every issue, I started taking moments to just be present with what is, without trying to change or fix it immediately. This shift has been incredibly liberating. It allowed me to appreciate life’s imperfect moments and to release unnecessary stress. If you tend to default to fixing, try shifting your mindset. Ask yourself: "Does this need fixing right now, or can it wait?" "Am I carrying responsibility that isn’t mine to bear?" Learning to distinguish these can be a game changer. Embracing patience and presence can lead to a more fulfilling life where you manage less and live more.
