Hot Take: Don’t Pay for Wedding Glam

I’m so happy I spent weeks practicing my own makeup instead of paying for someone else and risking not liking it. On my wedding day, I felt 100% like myself and absolutely beautiful seeing it all come together. 💕

My sister did my hair without even a trial run and killed it! That’s why I believe you should go with what (and who) you know. She knows me better than anyone, and I trusted her to bring my vision to life. ✨

Would you do your wedding glam ? Or hire someone ?

... Read moreChoosing to do your own wedding makeup and hair can be an empowering and cost-effective decision. Many brides find that practicing makeup application over weeks before the wedding day increases their confidence and ensures they achieve a look that truly represents them. When someone close to you, like a sister or best friend, helps with hair styling without a trial run, it can foster trust and result in a personalized style tailored perfectly to your preferences. It’s important to start practicing well in advance to master the desired techniques, including foundation matching, contouring, eye makeup, and lip color selection. Additionally, understanding how to use makeup tools effectively will enhance the final appearance. Video tutorials and bridal makeup guides are widely available online and can be valuable resources. For hair, choosing a trusted individual who knows your hair type and personality can make the styling process less stressful. They can experiment with different styles beforehand, even without formal trials, to find the most flattering and manageable look for your ceremony. Opting for DIY wedding glam also allows for greater flexibility and reduces the risk of dissatisfaction, which sometimes happens when hiring an unfamiliar professional on the big day. Moreover, personal involvement means you’re more likely to feel authentic and at ease, enhancing the joy reflected in your wedding photos and memories. Ultimately, whether to do your own glam or hire a professional depends on your comfort level and preferences. But many brides have embraced DIY beauty routines successfully, making their wedding day uniquely special and truly their own.

I am in total agreement with this. I have had my makeup done by professional MUAs many times but I always love the work that I do better.

I world love to do my own but I can't do my makeup right for a regular day, much less then. I have tried and tried and tried. *sigh* By the way, your makeup and hair were gorgeous! Great job!
