Read This If You’re in Your 20s ✨🫶
Your 20s are WILD. You’re suddenly “grown” but it also feels like being an adult toddler if that makes sense. At 23 you’ve only been adult for 5 years so It’s messy, confusing, beautiful, and hard all at once.
Here are 5 lessons I wish someone had told me earlier:
1. Everyone is battling something. Nobody has it all together, even if it looks that way online. Your struggles don’t make you weak—they make you human.
2. Hobbies are essential — not optional. Work, home, repeat will drain you. I was such an active child then as an adult it’s just work work work. When I first lived on my own, I got depressed because I had nothing just for me. I lost over 55lbs and I cried every single day. It was the same boring cycle but I didn’t realize I was the one in control and I could choose something different. Find routines, hobbies, and passions that give you life again.
3. Family may shift. Find your chosen people. Some relatives only see you as a child and may not support your growth. It’s that crabs in a barrel mindset that really ruins things sometimes. Protect your peace. Surround yourself with family who truly love you- you can pick your family.
4. Everything is temporary. The pressure to get your life together in your 20s can crush you. But both good and bad seasons pass. Don’t burn yourself out trying to speed-run adulthood. Breathe because nothing lasts forever.
5. Your body + energy deserve love. Be kind to yourself inside and out. Fuel your body with love, rest, and care. Be firm, set boundaries, but lead with kindness and positivity. The universe will reward you in ways you can’t imagine. Always remember that you get more flies with honey 🍯
💭 If you’re in your early 20s, take this as your reminder that you don’t have to have it all figured out. And if you’ve already passed this stage, drop ONE thing you wish you knew back then so we can help out the next generation and all learn together.
Your early 20s are truly a transformative time, often described as a mix between newfound independence and still figuring things out—like being an "adult toddler." It’s important to remember that this phase is not about having it all figured out, but about growth and self-discovery. One key insight is that everyone is battling something. Even if social media portrays others as having perfect lives, most people face invisible struggles. Recognizing this can reduce the pressure to compare yourself and help you embrace your own journey with more compassion. Finding hobbies that fill your cup cannot be overstated. The daily grind of working and returning home can drain the soul. Engaging in activities purely for your enjoyment—whether it's painting, reading, or trying a new sport—energizes you and enhances mental health. It’s never too late to start something new, and hobbies can serve as a sanctuary from stress. Family dynamics often shift in your 20s. Sometimes, relatives may resist seeing you as an adult or may impede your growth. This is where identifying your "chosen family"—friends and mentors who genuinely support you—becomes crucial. Protecting your peace allows you to flourish without toxic influences. Remember that everything is temporary. The pressure to "figure out" your life during your 20s can be overwhelming. Realizing that both good and tough seasons pass helps you stay grounded and patient with yourself. There’s no rush to speed-run adulthood; taking time to breathe and reflect is vital. Lastly, your body and energy deserve love and care. Being kind to yourself through proper rest, nutritious food, setting boundaries, and maintaining a positive mindset creates a foundation for long-term well-being. Leading with kindness invites positive energy and unexpected rewards. Embracing these lessons not only eases the complexities of early adulthood but also builds resilience and joy that carry you into later stages of life. So take this reminder: you are exactly where you need to be, and each step forward is part of your unique story.
